Ive got one and cant recommend it

Even Jellyfished up on 2.2 it is still a sluggish mess of a phone with truly awful batter life (about 8 hours on standby!!!!) and wifi just doesn't work!

Cheap, but also rubbish!

"truly awful batter life"

It is not designed to be dipped in batter oO

Total nonsense of a comment.

You have a faulty unit ask for a refund and bicker elsewhere.

I brought 20 of these to help other fellow forum members from all over EU and everyone of them come up ok and worked as it should.

wifi is a known problem on these cheap rubbish phones! and none of the wifi fix apps work.......

could be i have a faulty battery I'll give you that, but I really regret buying it and will be getting rid of it at the earliest oppertunity!!
Mine can't even run angry birds without shuddering and slowing!

Also scores only 300 or something on the quadrant standard app! really poor :(

Quality phone. Excellent battery life. WiFi works as it should.
Lots of Apps.
You just need to know what you are doing.

I've bought and modded 5 SF's. 1 has failed due to a faulty digitiser connection - poor soldering seems to be the cause, I could sort it but it's going back to Orange for replacing.
Battery life is fine in all of the phones, 1 day used hard, 2 days on light use - this isn't a problem cause I sleep for 7 hours a night and charge the phone each night.
Quadrant on my phone, running a modded 2.1 rom is 400.

Modding community on Modaco is very active and helpful - excellent Android starter phone if you want to learn about modding.

How many other £100 phones can even run the Quadrant App ?
Yep Angry birds can occasionally slow down - does that on my Iphone 3GS too...
Battery life I'll give you but again not much worse than my iPhone...

Did I mention its £100 ?

Having one with the OLED screen and one without I can confirm that it really does make a difference. That said I have had great fun with this phone. Easy unlock posted earlier, easy to root by using app Universal unlocker- Titanium Backup App lets you remove all the Orange useless apps. Once rooted there are some useful apps available such as Better Cut, allows you to make your own icons and short cuts for apps, and Barnacle which allows you to use your phone for tethering (i.e. you mobile account to surf on pc, so no need to use a 3g dongle. Battery life is fine no problems, in fact excellent for an android, especially if you use the settings to help cut down unnecessary battery usage. Buy one!

At last some senisbile people who have used and realised that the SF is utter garbage !

And DONT even put it in the same thread as the Iphone, CANNOT and will NOT ever compare to the mighty Iphone

great as a sat nav (using aura) , and as a phone .. can play angry birds etc etc and wifi works fine .. use it for tvcatchup and radiotime without any modding at all. im really unsure what else youd want for £100 . and re charging is quick. have to add great screen .. sharp ..

Read the independent reviews for this phone, and you will see it is an excellent phone for the money.
Could this be the reason why they constantly sell out, and sell for more on e-bay than they do off the Orange web site.

One other thing if this phone is so bad, why do people defend the IPhone against the San Fransisco? is it because they purchased an expensive phone with a list of production faults..lol

Questions:
1. Does this have an OLED screen
2. Is it better than a Wildfire
3. Why do people keep posting the same old cruddy deals for this phone?

Possibly because they sell like hotcakes? Let's face it Orange struck gold with this phone.

When the iPhone is £100 you may have a case to make, but Android will still take over the world!

Totally agree. My iPhone is better in most regards apart from the screen ( bs the olds version ) but it did cost 3 times as much. There is nothing to touch the San fran at a sub £100 price point

Value for money the SF is hard to beat.

Of course it's not the same as an iPhone 4 but that's 5x the price on PAYG but it's far from being garbage! Is a £20k MX-5 garbage compared to a £100k Porsche? Same argument....

Got the missus an iPhone for Xmas & got myself the SF last week & guess what the missus prefers to use the SF for making Skype talk calls cos they don't drop...but no video Skype on SF

OK the SF isn't perfect but then neither is the iPhone but for less than £100 the SF is far, far better value for money for everyday use! The missus loves her iPhone but didn't realise how much it cost and when I told her she said "Why didn't you get me SF instead and save the money?"

ya battery is not great but still a very good phone,
to save battery life i use
advance task killer to stop all apps
and autostarts to stop apps starting up when not needed
and best off all is powermax app.

iphone owners just hate these phones cos they had to pay stupit prices for there phones
IE £500 or £50 for 24 months
lmao bloody muppets

What would you guys recommend between this deal for £95 and the earlier HTC Desire deal (£174 over 18 months)? Thanks for the help

I'm a SF owner.Did have an iphone - can't replace the battery - tied to itunes. The same apps i paid for when i had my iphone are free on android

wow lots of jealousy or ignorance here. I bought 2 SFs at xmas for about this price and they are both absolutely excellent (one OLED, one TFT, i actually prefer the TFT for reading small text).

if they were the same price as the iphone i'd still choose the SF (ok, i'd buy the iphone and sell it for £450 on ebay, then buy 2 SFs and pocket the £250 change, but you get the idea :) )

this isn't an amazing deal but if its the best price right now it's still hot.. wonder how low the price will go on this, probably not much lower until a competitor comes out? there is no competitor currently so no reason to drop much below £100.

btw SF running Froyo is not sluggish at all unless you run loads of dodgy apps, but then any phone will slow down..

Own both an iPhone and the San Francisco. Absolutely epic phone. Had some compatibility issues with the WiFi, but an App fix has remedied the problem.

Running Jellyfish 2.2, extremely fast. Very impressed with it. Battery life seems to be very respectable as well. There's going to be a ton of apple fanboy's who'll badmouth anything non-apple / non-iPhone, but the sweet face of the matter is for <£100, this phone is nothing short of epic. Unlocking took seconds to find the code and perform the unlock, for free. Nothing about it is complicated. Sure, the quality isn't on par with an iPhone, but that's only because you are paying 5/6 times more for the iPhone.

In short. Epic phone. This is all.

I bought this phone last week from Orange phones sales for only £76*. OK, I had a PAYG sim already but it was only used to get the Orange Wednesday deal.
Voted cold for the price - it's cheaper direct from Orange.

*included £10 top up :)

A couple of people seem to visit each SF post to complain about the phone - trolls or real users I dont know - but of course no product is suitable for absolutely everyone. What the haters will never admit though is the SF is a revolution - a fully featured smart phone that is easily unlockable and upgradable for less than 100 quid. Sure I would probably have bought a Galaxy S if I had the money, but I love my SF. I am happily running 2.2, battery life is OK (charge every night to keep it topped up, but it is much better than my wife's Desire), sensible selection of apps means it doesnt crash (Angry Birds runs fine for me), and there is a fantastic android community out there who will assist with just about any problem you may have. Stop littering these posts with "my iPhone is better" - no one cares!!!

What it boils down to is Android phones are for people who like tinkering, modding, exploring every thing the phone is capable of it. To fit this catagory, you need to be fairly open to, and interested in reading and learning. The iPhone caters for those who can just take it out of the box and 'intuitively' use it off the bat. You'll be 'content' with your OS, and be perfectly happy with it being like everyone elses. Whereas an Android user will encounter a proble, and then attempt to manually fix it. And iPhone user will return it to the appstore and get somebody else to do it.

Very nicely put - well done!

Promotional code does not seem to be working. Tried to buy this from argos from an earlier deal but non in stock. has anybody had any luck getting this phone from orange at the already a customer price although you are not.
#34
which version is better OLED or TFT one?
#35
Can someone direct me to how to remove the bloat ware that orange have put on this phone as I really like the phone but find the bloatware annoying and seems to drain the battery quicker fr what I've heard from ohther threads. Also if I removed the bloatware and a fault occurs within the warreny period, would I be able to restore the phone back to it's original state/setting.
#37
They are excellent phones regardless. At the price they are amazing. £100 for something that does everything I want, and more, works for me. Battery is fair for this kind of phone - not poor, not outstanding. iPhone simply can't compete with Android when there are quality phones at this price available.
#38
I have bought 15 of these for , some oled some lcd , never had a wifi problem, jellyfish runs faultless!!
there are some pathetic comments on here !! they make me laugh

There is no real difference between oLED and LCD ,

For what this phone can do and for under £100 is amazing !!!

Nokia , iphone etc are very very worried about googles android software and the sf has made it even more viable now !!!

you have the right one but its that price when bought with £10 credit, shows it to the right hand side of the screen
hope that helps

...when bought with a £10.00 Top Up

Got myself a San Fran about a month ago, and it's a fantastic phone. As others have said, pretty easy to put custom roms on (and I'm a total tech noob), and outstanding value for money.
Mine runs great on JJ 2.2. Needs charging once a day, but that's mainly down to the amount of time I spend playing Robo Defence and other games on it. ;)

I found the phone stuttered quite a lot with Angry Birds when it was on 2.1, but everything runs so much smother on 2.2. I've only played a couple of levels of Angry Birds since I updated to froyo and they run smoothly, but I've not tried the busier levels (my game progress being wiped when I updated).
Similarly it seemed to struggle with a lot of other things before I updated, and is pretty much perfect now. Simple things like my swipe pattern to unlock were frustrating me before but work without a hitch now.
