Reposting a deal from a month ago that I've found after a bit of digging around for a memory card for my new phone.
Seems to be reviewed quite favourably, was out of stock but now showing plenty.
Class 2 card however many people reporting much better performance.
Hope this helps someone and prevents a few hours of searching for a decent card!

I'm aware of that, however the deal had previously been expired and was posted over a month ago, so thought it may be helpful for people who may have missed it last time round, such as myself.

Reposting it is fine, as you say its been a month but it was only expired for a short period & has been unexpired for quite a while & if you managed to find it then you never missed it. :)

I actually found it here, via a link from another website, as for some reason it didn't show when I initially searched here for micro sd cards.

Great price, just not keen on it being only class 2 - very useful for mobiles or small cameras though, heat added

Can anyone be kind enough to advise whether this would work in my HTC Desire?

Is the Class 2 element an issue in respect of mobile phone use?

It will work fine. I have been using it for the past month with my Android. It also writes at about 5-6mbs

7day shop also have this version (Dane-Elec Micro SD High Capacity (MICRO SD-HC) Memory Card - 16GB) which works fine in my X10 for £18.49

Agreed ,,, I've also got one and an Android SD card speed test reports it as 5-6MBs write and ~10-11MBs read and thus classify it as either class4 or class6 - though, a caveat may be that the way the test first streams a large write followed by a large read to measure speed may not be the "worst case" access pattern that, I assume, the class2 rating guarantees

Thanks to you both for the responses.

great, ordered, thanks

I don't believe that the Class system has any ISO standard testing behind it, i've regularly seen test results that make a mockery of the whole thing.

Like above, I have HTC Desire and was wondering if this class 2 card can cope with the new Froyo (android 2.2) 720p recording? I swear I read somewhere that a class 2 card would suffer. Can anyone shed some light, please?

720p video using h264 isn't likely to be more than 10Mb/s (i'd be surprised if its even close to this), which is equivalent to 1.28MB/s. The cards should be fine.

Just bought a Kingston 16GB MicroSD from ebay for £10.99 delivered.

ITEM NO: 120618839945

Looks dodgy to say the least, should be interesting to see if and when it turns up and if it is genuine...

Never ever ever buy cards off ebay. They either dont work or have been meddled with to show a higher capacity than it actually has. If you're going to pay for a high end card, you may as well get it guaranteed authentic from a good site.

Oh, also never go for cards with no name. Stick with the branded ones. Got 3 16gb cards last time. I now have a choice of up to 48gb of mp3s on my sandisk clip. JOY :-)

I appreciate your feedback and I know the listing says 'original brand' in the title but the description and picture suggests it's actually a Kingston branded card (decent). That particular seller is setting himself up for 250+ nasty feedbacks if the card isn't in any way as described...

bear in mind that you'll have to pay the return (recorded) postage for faulty items, which this will certainly turn out to be.

also while there may be 250 people who have ordered this, the likelihood is that the card will show 16gb in windows, and so most people will be perfectly happy and leave their glowing positive feedback after receiving it quickly.

in reality, it will probably be 2gb or 4gb at best, spoofed to report 16gb. i have one such in front of me :)

all in all, the cost of the item plus the cost of return postage, plus the hassle of testing it to make sure it is safe for storing data on... you may as well buy a sandisk for £19.99 :)

edit: also, bear in mind that as this is listed as "16gb" rather than "16 gigabytes", the seller can always fall back on the old "16gb = 16 gigaBITS, which equals 2 gigaBYTES" defence...

I bought a Toshiba-branded card from 7dayshop and they sent me a completely unbranded card instead, with no explanation. How am I supposed to know if it's genuine?

Eeek, that is news to me. I just noticed the seller has previously sold alot of Sennheiser cx300 headphones in the past (very cheap). One google of sennheiser cx300 fakes and there's loads of results.

****. I've already paid by paypal, how can i get out of this transaction before he sends it and I have to post the item back at cost?

it might well be news to the seller too, so there's no guarantee she'll make this claim!

i suspect the only way to get out of the transaction would be to contact the seller and ask her to cancel it. if she doesn't agree, then you're a bit stuck until it arrives.

even if you do receive it, the threat of a paypal dispute or even negative feedback (which might encourage others to test and thus demand money back) may well be enough to get your cash back. it'll just be that much more long-winded.

be grateful that you're not one of the people who ordered 10!

I've requested a return through ebays normal method and asked nicely for the seller to refund the money before he sends the card.

Thanks Ferris. Repped you. Now ordering the deal on this page :-)

Class 2 8gb Sandisk card worked fine for 720p recording with my Desire. No dropped frames, etc.

Can anyone be kind enough to advise whether this would work in my T-mobile Pulse?

The customer service couldn't confirm if it supports with T-mobile Pulse < Could someone kindly advice?

Many thanks in advance !

T-mobile forums seem to suggest that this would be supported by the pulse, with this being the maximum size it will take.

Hope this helps.

a quick question about memory cards:

i have a symbian phone (nokia 5530), and i've got several apps and things installed, both on the phone and the memory card.

so far i've been using a 2gb memory card. would it be possible to simply copy everything (directory structure, hidden files, system files etc) from the 2gb card to the 16gb card and just carry on using the phone? or will i have to reinstall all the apps from scratch?

If you don't like 7DayShop (I'm not a great fan) amazon.co.uk are selling 8GB Sandisk class 2 version for £10.29 (same price as on 7DayShop) and the 16GB version for £24.99 (5 quid more than 7DayShop)

I think from Amazon they come in full retail packing (unlike from 7DayShop) which gives some (maybe not much) more confidence. Do not buy memory cards or keys from Amazon marketplace, however, only buy the stuff they are selling directly
#31
Ordered one of these based on this. I ignored the advice in the posts about the item being reported out of stock. Now I get an email today:

Thank you for your recent order. When processing this order, it was discovered that
we are out of stock of the following products.
TO-SDMC-16GB-C Toshiba Micro SD High Capacity (MICROSD-HC) Memory Card - 16GB - Card Only - W/Case - GREAT PRICE!"

I wanted two 16GB micro SD cards so ordered one from 7dayshop and the £23 one from amazon.co.uk just in case 7dayshop turned out to be a waste of time. Turns out they were wasting my time.

So I have emailed them to cancel my order and bought this one from Play:
Play.com 16GB Micro SDHC Memory Card £17.99 for£17.99.

did you ever get your refund? i notice the seller's feedback has plummeted to less than 75% with 61 negatives in the past month.

it seems she just stopped sending things out. looks like you dodged a bullet there!
