Long shot, but could this be used to store the OS and have it boot up quickly? I need a drive to store the OS and have a quicker boot time than my 5400rpm HHD. I'm on a strict budget of £30, and I have looked at SSDs so don't recommend any please :) simple yes or no would do fine
#4
I dony see why not tbh, althought installation would probably be different then installing on a ssd
#5
Thanks OP :)

Fantastic price! Heat added!
#7
these run very hot ... much hotter than larger fast usb3 sticks as they are so small and cannot dissipate the heat

great deal

i picked up a few 16GB ones the other day and the only downside is they are tiny

do not buy if your clumsy, have bad eyesight or are prone to losing stuff

I tried running a Windows 8 virtual box (VMWare Fusion) from the 64Gb version of this. It does work, but it's very slow. Programs take forever to load and sometimes crash. I run the virtual box from my internal drive now. I don't know what it would be like to boot directly into an OS on the drive, but I imagine it would be pretty bad.

Will go pretty well with the Asus X205 I just bought. Guessing these are designed to expand storage on storage limited devices rather than taking between between places.
#12
You need to check if the computer will actually boot from its usb3 port(s) - I had thought to do this with an acer chromebook 720 but that's one that doesn't. I would also be concerned about the heat issue.
#13
Great price - thanks OP - heat added

Great fast VERY wee drives from a reliable manufacturer - gone for another 2.

Use with an Android Robot Host OTG Adapter and store all your media off your phone. Around £2.00 delivered from ebay. Only USB2 but still fast enough to play video from the sandisk flash drive in the deal. I leave both attached together, on a lanyard. Sorted.
