Anyone know how quick these ones are?
#5
If my info is correct
Read Speed: 25.0 MB/s / Write Speed: 18.0 MB/s

these are very very very small

when I apply the 5% code (MARCH5MM) at the checkout it deducts 5% but then it reverts to £6.99 when I go to pay
#8
i'm sorry i cannot help you there as i haven't bought them myself. good luck though
#9
These are great. The USB plug is moulded as part of the drive itself, so avoiding the many deaths of other USB drives previously owned by me which were bent until they snapped or died.

I had this problem - I just kept on doing it and it worked the third time

http://gadgetcat.wordpress.com/2010/03/12/flash-review-sandisk-cruzer-blade/

The Blade is painfully slow apparently, whatever you do don't get a 16 gig one :P I haven't seen it been speed specced anywhere except here, the 25MB/s 18MB/s comes from the Cruzer Contour description :/
#12
Yeah, it worked on checkout the third time for me also........................

Then they took £19.99 off my cc :-(

I use pen drives a lot at work and a small one in my experience has meant not very robust and easily broken. Basically, sort of christmas cracker quality.

A rugged Sandisk Titanium or Corsair for me. If you value your data or need one that will last it's worth every penny extra.

The reviews for this product are not universally bad.

http://www.kiwireviews.co.nz/review/2490

'It isn't the fastest, but it isn't the slowest.'

The negative review that was posted was clearly devised by a rank amateur.

He speed tested two VERY disequally sized flash drives, using two disequal test files, and yielded a result which demonstrated that the MUCH bigger flash drive was 30% slower at transferring a smaller file than the much smaller drive was at transferring a bigger one.

The Blade may well be slower, and the test may well demonstrate it, but it doesn't do so by convincingly comparing like for like, which means the results cannot be considered to be remotely accurate or representative.

For me, this is a good price on a sturdy, reliable product. If you're measuring the speed of transferring files to portable media, you either need to spend a tonne of money on a super fast drive, or get a portable HDD, or you're Ethan Hawke and you only have twenty seconds to transfer the NOC list to the data drive. In which case, this isn't the product you're looking for anyway.

Give it some heet.

Are you sure?? I thought they were quite big?!

I have the 16GB one, its very small and light, I love it personally, it is slow, but if you are not bothered about lighting fast and want something reliable, small, good value and looks nice then this is great
#17
This is the 4GB version.
#19
Top deal, just got one. Cheers.

My preference was always the cruzer micro skin (this one), so i am keen to know what the speed difference is between the two...

EDIT: If looking for the 16GB, check Play.com as they are a little cheaper (& also would be for the 8GB if in stock).
#27
Does anyone know if the red blob at the back end is a hole to pop it onto a keyring, or an LED?

Keyring, but from experience, you probably need to stick in a piece of string and connect that to a keyring.

Sounds like you have a similar collection of broken plastic hoops on the end of pendrives to mine.

clearly looks like an LED. No keyring and small size ensures this will soon get lost.
