Hot in my opinion unless I've missed something.

Is this not the very same product that MyMemory sell for £20.99 pre Quidco?

MemoryBits
Read speed up to 5 MB/sec
Write speed up to 1.5 MB/sec

The other thread is Class 4... this doesn't even seem to be Class 2 if the information on their website is correct.

This is a class 4, it's marked clearly on the item in the photo on the top right corner.

12GB must be due release any time now judging by this price movement. Only 3 weeks ago these were £25.

10 % Quidco too.

Excellent deal. I got the email from mymemory offering the aforementioned 8GB card and resisted then this came along and I had to. 10% quidco + 10% discount code + Free shipping when I added in a £5.95 spare battery for my N82 that I wanted + 1.5% American Express cashback lol! I'm a bargain hunter from EVERY angle lol! :-D !!!

I usually go by the text instead of the picture but it did seem strange that Sandisk would make such a slow card unless it was fake of course.

CHEEPSTUFFRULES!

Class 4 = 4 MB/s write speed.

Class 2 = 2 MB/s write speed.
#11
You can get an Extra 10% off by using the code:
mb10da

Total is £18.15 after the code

And then use Quidco on top of that....

Just missed out on this deal (I got mine from My Memory) but have to say these work great on the PSP using a PRO DUO/Micro SDHC adapter - just make sure your format it on your PC first as the PSP can't and don't use 'Quick format'.
#13
Great deal, ordered one :)
#14
If you buy one of the items that include free delivery http://www.memorybits.co.uk/freeshipping then you dont have to pay postage for the basket total (although items are a pound or so more than standard delivery) Think Ordered one & a mobile phone cable

Thanks Chris

I got the card from MyMemory too... wrote to them to say their advertising was misleading by showing a MicroSD to SD adapter in their blurb and they replied to say they would remove it. They haven't. I held off ordering this morning because of that and am glad I did!! £18.15 plus 10% Quidco..... makes it not worth thinking about the 4Gb card.

Plus they gave me a 10% off next order code to use on my next order with them!!!

Hot deal! If you have a Sony Ericsson K850i it will support this 8GB Micro SDHC.
#21
Is the read/write speed relatively good? or quite slow compared to usb flash drives?

i want to use this as a USB flash drive as it is tiny!

Will this work on a Blackberry Pearl?
#25
Good deal voted hot. The read/write speed is really poor on this 8GB compared to some smaller cards though...

It's really bad. There's drives kicking around the market that offer write speeds of four+ times this. At 1.5MB/s, you're looking at about a hour and a half to shunt 8GB onto it.
#27
I have one, and the read write time is fast.

Since when can you use SD cards in a PSP?

Explain please as they seem to be the cheapest type of memory going at the moment :D

This isn't an SD card, but a Micro SD card. You can purchase a Micro SD card to Pro Duo adaptor.

Yeah, Bravo...great deal...ordered the extra battery for my N95 too!! Heat and repec'.

[SIZE="3"]What can I say but the fact that I have one in my PSP and one in my son's and they both work fine. Like I said you have to format them on the PC and not use the 'Quick format' option first though.[/SIZE]

I seriously doubt that you're writing data to the card at 12 MB/s when it's meant to be Class 4 which means a write speed of 4 MB/s "at best", not minimum.

The read and write speeds mentioned are WAY OFF!

I have a few of these cards, and when used with the red adaptor that comes with it the speeds are far better than any produo, that i have had, 20mb read speeds, write speeds are not that bad either, 8gb doesnt take that long at all..

If it was 1.5mb write, it wouldnt comply to the class 4 spec anyways..

its minimum guaranteed of 4mbs, not max dude

Ok, lets clear this up, I use HDTach for my speed tests, if someone would like to suggest a different "free" program in order for me to test the read and write speeds of these 8gb class 4 cards, I will be happy to do so.

I can test on a laptop, and 2 different pc's. using an sd adaptor with a card reader, using the card reader that comes with it (no adaptor needed.) I could also use the white sandisk readers you get with the 4gb versions to see if there are any variance in speeds through them all.

any suggestions on what program to use that would satisfy you all??

Oh, just to mention, I have 3 of these cards in my possesion at the moment

I should have said it differently:

src
A speed of 4 MB/s or higher is guaranteed at the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied.

What I mean to say is - the Class ratings only apply when the card is "empty" and once you start filling the card there is no guaranteed minimum.

Regardless of the above, do you believe the 12MB/s claim?

no, class is minimum.
read 5mb/s and write 1.5mb/s is wrong, pretty sure i have seen tests showing almost 20/10 for read/write , where it falls back is random access times.

I'm interested.. but before you do any benchmark tests make sure that you've configured Windows so that it's in "quick removal" mode therefore you won't get false readings.
#38
I am willing to test and take screenshots of my findings, like i said, i use HDtach v3.040 with the write option enabled.

If others are happy for me to publish my results with this software then i will do so. I will say that the older versions (without write enabled) all state the same read speeds as the one i have.
#39
test results by kms on cyclods forum using hdtach (131mb file used for write speed)
sequential read: 19.5 MB/s
average read: 19.5 MB/s
burst read: 20.1 MB/s
write: 10.2 MB/s (fastest of the 8 cards tested)
random access time: 1.7ms

That seems about what im getting. i will test with 3 different readers on a pc and laptop just to clarify, and take screenies of all my findings. Cant do it till later though, but promise to get it done by the end of tonight.
