These are on sale in PC World stores (NOT online) at £89.99! However, just got mine price matched to Play.com for 110% of the difference, so only paid £10.79. (There is also a similar post on HUKD for the 4GB version.)

EDIT#1: The link takes you to Play.com's price, which you need to print and take to PC World to get the 110% price match offer.

EDIT#2: Sorry for any confusion, as I rushed out the original post in my lunch break. To clarify, print out the Play.com price, (the original description mentioned the MobileMate Micro Reader being included). Take the Play.com printout & a copy of PC World's price promise to your PC World store and claim for the difference. This item is INSTORE ONLY - not online at PC World. The item number is 0000726558. The barcode number is 619659040246. Amazon & other places also sell this at a similar price to Play, so shop around and you may save even more as the PC World price is vastly over priced.

EDIT#3: PC World Price Match policy is here: http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1633342436.1218231991@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccfeadeekjhfhghcflgceggdhhmdgmh.0&chain=PC_World&channel=WEB&page=GenericEditorial&genericeditorial=price-match-promise

My thanks to nmerlet's original post for the 4gb version

#12
which one is it?
#13
will they pricematch as the one on Play doesn't have a card reader with it, and you need to take a copy of the page from play site to get the pricematch. I think?.
#14
in order for pcworld to price match, doesn't the one on play.com also have to be sandisk brand? cos the only one i can find on play is play's own brand... also, what do u have to do in order to get a pricematch...??
#15
This is the one from Play.com

http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/3564175/Sandisk-Micro-SD-HC-8GB-Memory-Card/Product.html

I think they are just faster, and they are micro instead of the standard size sd card.
#16
Scroll down the page at Play.com, the description says "with Bonus reader". Take this with you when pricematching.

yes, PC World discount 110% of the difference not 10% of £17.99

This is a PC World deal not play.com !!
#20
What a deal. The play.com description does state that it comes with the reader. They're great items. Works fine in a Nokia 5310 incase anyone is wondering!!
#21
I indeed agree this is a better deal than mine.
But you were lucky your PC World had the 8GB in stock!
Did you find the PC World webpage stating the price of this card? I didn't, so I cannot check instore availability online, though this feature is not working great: I reserved online a memory card to collect in store, and when I showed up: 'sorry we don't have it'... I lost 15 minutes...

Another question: is it class 2 or 4?
Thanks, heat added

Ok, new challenge: find free articles at PCW with their price match promise.
If the article is say, £10 at play, it has to be £110 at PCW to have it free. :whistling:

so does the fact that pcworld have SANDISK and play have their OWN BRAND card, the difference in branding does not matter when price matching??

someone please confirm!

No.
It needs to be the exact same brand and model.
For SD memory card, this means: same brand, same capacity, same SDHC capability and same class (= speed).
But you can find sandisk SDHC and micro SDHC card on play.com.

i was asking to clarify- ofcourse common sense does indicate it has to be EXACTLY the same, but cos i couldn't find a sandisk on play, and op's link showed the p.c world one, i was getting confused! :)

err... anyway found it on play now.....

*************************************
EDIT: not found it on pcworld..haha!! what am i doing wrong>???

can a bright spark paste BOTH play.com and PCworld url so it just stares me in the face- two sdhc cards that are identical!!!! op- thanks for play url, but now cant find same thing on pcworld...

thanks nmerlet , repped for your help.

I take it you found it on PCW's website?
If u didn't, find out whether your local store has it in stock. The OP gave the link to the Play.com one, and that's key. Take a copy to PCW, and get them to price match it.

AFAIK, PC World website does not list micro SDHC cards. But they definitively have Sandisk micro SDHC instore.
The problem is that at the 'Tottenham Court Road' store, they only had the 4GB one, not the 8GB. So my advice: print play.com webpages for many different products you might be interested in, and pop instore to see what is available!

Edit: I forgot to say that, since these products aren't online, you cannot check the price, check the stock, or buy it online.
According to the OP, the instore price is £89.99. Trust him.
But if it is only £40 in your local PCW branch, your saving will be less.

Speed performance rating: Class 4 (based on SD 2.00 Specification)
Taken from the Play.com website.

As far as I know u can just go in and mention it to them. At the end of the day, they still have to look it up to confirm. But to be on the safe side, it might be worth taking it in with u.
#33
Ukkit,
I think you have been very lucky!, I have just been to the local PCW store and asked for the price match only to find they would not honour it as it was not the same item? the PCW item has a 10 year warranty and the play one has 5 years therefore its not the same deal!!!!!
Have you ever hear such utter nonsense, in my opinion they really paniced and it took two of them to come up with this lame excuse.
I enjoyed the opportunity though.

Are u completely sure its 10yr warranty at PCW?Coz as far as I can c, this warranty is from the manufacturer, and it would be standard for every retailer.
These guys would try every trick in the book to get out of this!

Better have it printed.
When I went there yesterday and handed my print at the till. The lady there looked at their price then at play's one (one my print, not online), got shocked :-D, then input in her system the price match. She used a calculator to compute the discount :)
She did not gave a look at the play website online, and I even asked and got my print back!

Really?!?
Not the same warranty? How comes?
I did it (on a 4GB card, see my deal submittted yesterday), OP did it, and many people did it for USB memory sticks. They didn't look at the warranty.

Play warranty is 5 years. Where is it stated that PCW's one is 10 years? If it is not on the product, then it is kind of void?
'Sorry, play warranty is 5 years, but we do a special offer: 5 years and 1 day warranty. So it is not the same product"

As previously mentioned, the item does not seem to appear on PCW's website. You will have to go into yr local store or call to find out which of the nearest one has it.
#39
The warranty is the manufacturers warranty and on the back of the packaging on the PCW item on the Play website it states a 5 year warranty.
The item I picked up at PCW was the mobile ultra and priced at £ 79 ish mark and the Play item is labelled differently.
Anyway PCW were not going to let this go!
