Saw this in the Newtownabbey Northcott Store (N Ireland). Thought it seemed like a good deal; online at tesco direct it's overpriced at £79.99. The price tag showed it as being reduced to half price.

This might be store specific.

Bargain; I think they're charging about £8 for a 4gb Sandisk Cruzer at the moment so this seems great value.

Good if you can find it. Since they've done up my local Tesco (Dunfermline) with a new, big electronics and computer section I've never seen any bargains. No reductions, no offers. In fact, nothing is competitively priced.

Is this one lockable to prevent viruses jumping onto the stick ??

Theres no physical locking switch on the side if thats what you mean.

All flash drives, and storage devices in general, are potentially able to be infected by viruses.

Tried 2 extra stores today, Denton and Failsworth. Non in stock

They had some 16Gb ones for £29.99 though.

Not if you have 17GB of data it's not :whistling:

I'm always filling up my 16gb stick, in fact it just broke :( I would definitely use a 32GB one. I've seen 256GB ones as well, but then I saw the price (over £600!)
#21
incredible value if you can find one, other retailers have 32gb drives starting at about 45ukp, or 100+ for 64gb, never seen 256gb though.

True, but I bought a 16GB Sandisk backup for £15 - much better than this as the speed is faster.

Are you sure? Seems strange to be putting the new one down to half price. Heres the old one and the new one:

Not if you want to install windows xp onto it. or Linux which I have managed to do I am happy to say!

Quite easy to do actually.

The one that I bought and have in my hand now is the new one !

Definitely is the new shape, which looks more designer and modern to me. I've got several of the SanDisk old shape but prefer the new one.
It's got red plastic at the metal bit which you insert into PC (normally white). Still has orange glow but its a bit bigger light.
It's got a metal bar to attach a strap but a bit disappointed it didn't come with a small finger/wrist strap.
This ranks with the sony "007" USB sticks as my favourites for build quality and practicality.
I bought the new Play.com 16gb stick two weeks ago but that felt cheaply made.

How does it compare in size to the old one? And did you say the orange glow is more brighter?

New one is a bit fatter - new is 8mm, old one 7mm (by my measurements.)
The orange light is wider but no brighter.
Because the white plastic switch is wider, it makes it easier to retract the USB.
I prefer the writing on the new one, more professional and minimalist.

Fobber, thanks also for that, I thought I'd been done! Not that I was planning on going back for a refund !

Nothing, anything you can put on a hard disk you can put on this (if you have enough space that is.)
#35
Thats a good deal, must only be your store, As online it's saying £79.97 and still has the picture on the old one

Oh well keep on looking
#36
Just popped into my local, they only had the 4GB ones. I think I need to pop into the Tecos Extra.

Very good deal. voted HOT!
#37
None in Coatbridge extra store :(
#38
All sold out in Canley after I got 3 (Cannon Park)
#39
The Sandisk Ultra Backup, would be a better USB stick. Faster read/write speeds and easy to pick one up for a fiver more from ebay.
