why the cold votes?

i bought this 2 weeks ago from Amazon for £22 with the super saver delivery on a Saturday and got it on the Tuesday. Its fast and small. The only problem is its a little flimsy and am thinking I should have got the titanium version for a little more. But you cant complain about a fast 8Gb for this price. You can get 8gb a little cheaper but research will show anyone the speed of the sandisk is far superiour when tested in the lab.

Not sure why your getting cold votes.

Just to let you know if it was only 2 weeks ago since you purchased you should be able to get the difference refunded due to amazons price drop policy.

Go here...

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/contact-us/general-questions.html?ie=UTF8&browse%5Fnode%5Fid=471044&jsEnabled=enabled

Log in, select the email tab, change the issue combo box to returns & refunds, fill in the order number and in the body of the message, tell them that the price dropped and that you want to be credited for the difference. It might help to mention the item name as well as old and new price, but I’m not sure that’s entirely is necessary.

My question too...

Is it not a good price? Coupled with my £2.50 voucher, it seems an even better price.

Anyone got any reason why this isn't a good buy?

Don't see how they can have, for a sandisk u3 8GB at this price. If I hadn't just bought an 8GB drive, I'd be buying this right now.

I find the end a little too big to go into some places, especially if I have something in an adjacient usb slot.
I have the 1Gb version, fast, small. Wish it was detatchable easily from my key ring tho.

great price

The 8gb optima attache at play.com is the same price and faster.
Plus the sync software is far less annoying. I actually use it.

Good price! I have the 1GB version, they are a little flimsy (a little bit of shake in them) but otherwise they're great.

U3 software can be removed btw.

Heaaaat, especially with my 2.50 voucher ;)
#9
why do you need to carry 8gb of data around in your pocket?
#10
That u3 system is a pain in the butt on these. You can get it removed by a special program that you can download from their site.

I bought the Sandisk 8gb for 14.99 at pc world the other week. Great little key - although I can see me loosing the lid.

I often watch movies at work downloaded from the net

Well the first two are [email protected] brands - the third is a good brand but the reviews seem to indicate it is a bit slow.
I think I'll stick with the Sandisk version. I already have a full 4gb version, so now need an 8gb vers to fill up :)

P.S Play.com sucks for delivery

It's an OK deal, but personally I hate the memory sticks with the retractable plugs, always look flimsy. I love my U3 kingston though, find the U3 really useful.

These are far from flimsy and much better than removable plug covers which are easily lost and/or broken. Voted hot.

8GB is great - you can fit a whole ISO on that, pretty much - which means a DVD or game in your pocket on any PC with Daemon Tools for example.

I also use mine for MAME32 and the roms - means I have an Arcade Machine in my pocket which can run comfortably from the USB stick itself, without needing to be installed to play. Well handy.

I'm after 16GB are there any good deals anyone can point me towards. Ideally good read/write speed would be great. I have seen the below deal at Play with good read/write speed and no cap but a little pricy.

Ive got the 4 gb version of this, great drive and the U3 software is easily removed. Considering getting this for even more music in the car

A little off topic, but rather than backup all My Documents onto one of these and then loose it - what is the simplist encryption Software to ensure, if lost, no-one can access your data?

TrueCrypt is one that i know of, often recommended

Yes, but none of these is a Sandisk U3, so for those that like a relaible brand and like U3, this IS a good deal Otherwise it's like voting a Sony TV cold because there's a Matsui a bit cheaper round the corner.

As the OP posted:
"I bought this today, (the same product on play is £49.99)."

Nuff said. glad most people are now seeing sense.
#23
Not bad deal, used my HUKD voucher too. Cheers OP. heat and rep'd

PC World? Don't believe you :\

Just about to buy one and then I find the 4 GB Crossfire for £14.97.

Google reviews, and I find that actually the Crossfire (their second quickest drive) is slower than my current one!

Grrrr - I want something biggest and faster than my Lexar JumpDrive Lightning for under £25 that's 4 GB.

It's not compulsory to keep it full all of the time, but it's space available when you need it and it's cheaper than a 16GB.

I have always used Dane-Elecs and have had 100% reliability from them and they are cheaper for 8GB, but there is much more in this offer so hot.
#33
There are an awful lot of loose people on here!

Loose rhymes with moose.

Lose rhymes with use.

PS Sony TVs are no better than any others - they just spend more money pumping up the brand - and you get to pay that money...
#34
you probably want to google complaints about U3 technology before you go for it
#35
...you can remove U3 with software from their site, so it doesn't really bother me.
suspended#36
yeah there is a U3 removal tool from sandisk's website. If you ever decide you want it back, there is also a tool to put it back on there.

I am looking for a flash drive at the minute, was going to buy the SanDisk 4GB Cruzer Contour from Play.com (http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3358981/SanDisk-4GB-Cruzer-Contour/Product.html) until I saw this post.

What is the read and write speed of the 8gb Cruzer? I looked at the specification but I didn't see it mentioned.

BTW I don't think this deal has expired just yet, it's still priced at £17.99 on Amazon.

Welcome to HUKD R05s :)

Unexpired the deal now.

Thanks for this deal. Have ordered one with my £2.50 voucher! :)

I posted this because I have the 2gb cruzer previous to this I had a whopping 128mb kingston. I needed more space, there was only a few quid between the 4gb and the 8gb and I lost the cap (still works and is excellent), I have been looking for a capless drive for a while. I have used the u3 software and while being not to everyones taste it can be removed instructions on the u3 site.

thanks to all who voted hot.
