Spotted this on Tesco Website, looks like a good deal to me for a sandisk cruzer Contour 8GB, next cheapest i could see was @ 17.99

here is manufacturers blurb

The flagship of SanDisk USB flash drives, the Cruzer Contour features a sleek and stylish black glossy design. Including an innovative sliding USB connector that retracts into the body eliminating the need for a cap to protect the connector.

I think this is what they are referring to
This is a good price for a normal store. The cheapest i can think of is £20 for a no make.
hot for me
Nice! Thanks. I've gone for one, and had it delivered to my local store.

play £17.79
That's the slower drive though, isn't it? This is the faster "Contour" edition.
Thanks - ordered one for pickup - seems like a very fast USB stick.
Thanks just ordered - for store pick up.
fab will order one now. Hot
I've got one of these it's fast, the only negative is its rather large.
I have had this drvie for sometime now got it for £16 on my memory so this is a good price, great drive well built nifity way of concealing the usb and fast transfer speeds to boot, I use it to transfer the odd movie between laptops.
Had one of these a while and the only bad thing is the profile of it around the actual USB plug and have found a few devices it will not plug into due to the lip around the socket. I wouldn't buy another due to this. One of the things it wouldn't go in was an XBox 360 if that is an issue for you.
It will fit a 360 no sweat, unless your trying to use your feet you will have no problems at all.
Ive got two of these (16gb and 4gb) and they are great, VERY fast, I hate when people refer to the slower model and say its cheaper. Use your eyes people, it doesnt even look the same.

Its not that big, and DOES fit in a 360, and TBH just buy a USB extension cable for those VERY small USB slots, id rather do that and have very fast transfer rates than have a slow transfer that fits.

They were out of stock when I tried. Selected the option to Collect from Store (Prescot) and went through the whole process of entering card details and verifying them etc and was then told the order was cancelled due to lack of stock. :x
i paid £17 for the 16gb last month on offer so this isnt a deal.
Out of Stock :(

Are you sure it was the Contour edition? Where from?
Isn't the rule of thumb £1 per GB ?
Isn't the rule of thumb £1 per GB ?

For standard speeds, yeah.
Just picked mine up - here are the benchmark scores - peak read 29 MB/s and peak write 20 MB/s.

Sequential Read : 28.942 MB/s
Sequential Write : 20.074 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 28.900 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 3.051 MB/s
Random Read 4KB : 5.941 MB/s
Random Write 4KB : 0.027 MB/s

Took a minute to work out how to open the USB cap - you basically have to pull the case in the opposite direction - takes a bit of getting used to.

- Simon.
