>>> Price has come down to £13.99 now but you don't automatically qualify for FREE delivery unless you have a Prime membership. Your only options are to make up the order value to £15.00 (or as close as possible) or price match with PC World. <<<

>>> Not sure if you can claim back the difference as it's an Amazon affiliate but there's no harm in trying <<<

This drive apparently is NOT U3 capable so keep that in mind, if you want that then you'd be better off buying the black Cruzer at £15.99 (see other thread).

U3 is pretty handy for carrying your own set of programs with you if you are using other peoples computers or internet cafes. It also has back up facilities you can use for the stuff on your own PC too.

Give the details someone posted from wikipedia a read - as its a very secure way to access the net while travelling.

Most software is free to download or offers free trials too...

http://software.u3.com/softwarecentral.aspx?skip=1

The downside is it wont work on Linux - but as every net cafe I have seen runs windows - then it only is a problem if you stay in a friends house who uses Linux.

This is a great drive - But the stupid plastic key ring bit at the end broke on mine! Grrrrrr
so its not great for putting on with your keys!!! :(
#13
Get PC World to price match this (price match plus 10%) and it will only cost you £13.79! Plus 2.5% quidco!

damn, i thought that bit was fairly sturdy, i'll have to watch out

i've stripped mine of the rubber sleeve&lid, looks great without them, like a squashed bullet :p

But do you not have to go into a PC World store to get price match, therefore no quidco?
#16
Its worth getting if it doesnt have U3,

I'm going to try and price match with my local PC World tomorrow, CAS nevers tracks for me with Quidco but I'm not really bothered.

I'll post some read / write test results if I get my hands on it.

isn't £15 for 8GB pretty standard for a usb stick nowadays? I'm surprised how many times similar deals can be posted time and time again.

A quick Google will reveal all.

Most deals on this site fall into the "pretty standard" category with at least one retailer being only marginally more expensive.

With a cheap item such as this.. you're not going to see a huge difference in pricing ever, unless you buy from Maplin or something.

Yes but this is a very nice little drive, metal body and tiny size, from a good brand

Seconded...I have the 4gb version, and compared to my previous Samsung flash player/stick, it's probably nearly twice as fast at transferring data.

It's very small, I keep mine in my wallet, as the rubber key ring bit does look a bit flimsy. Excellent flash stick all in all.
#22
That's exactly what I've been looking for after my previous melted when I used it in some internet cafe. I was so ****** off I lost all the data.

Decent deal! Thanks!

Great price!

Although I prefer the one on play.com, same price and same size but with a 2 year warranty.

Each to their own :).

Price matched with PCW no prob while I was in the area, will edit this post in a while when I've tested it a bit... can't be slower than my black plastic 4GB Cruzers surely, hope not.

SanDisk Cruzer Micro Skin 8GB

Write: 8.963 MB/s
Read: 24.976 MB/s

Direct (no filesystem overhead) and sequential, 4GB worth of data written / read.

Expired as price has increased to £16.99, shame as it's a great little stick.
#26
back down to £14.79 now...

Now down to £13.99 :o.

You'd have to make up the difference to £15 though to qualify for free delivery unless you have a Prime membership. Or you could always price match it with PC World.
