Standard sort of USB memory stick but lowest price I could find for a decent brand and size. USB 2.0 but also 1.1 compatible. Requires a high power usb hub port.

Specs etc. here:
http://www.sandisk.com/Products/Item(2585)-SDCZ4-8192-A11-SanDisk_Cruzer_Micro_Skin_USB_Flash_Drive_8GB.aspx

Price is 14.99 if you use collect at store, 15.99 if bought instore.

SKU: 740401

Also the potential of 2.5% Quidco cashback ( 35p)

They also have the 4Gig in at 13.99 online/instore so the 8GB is better deal.

The build quality of this sandisk is FAR superior, and it is no thicker than the socket it is plugged into (except when u have the rubber skin on it). I've got one the same style as the play one (they're quite generic) and it has developed a rattle after only a couple of months of very light use.

I'd go for the Sandisk if you can.

Forget that tacky Play.com stick - I got a 2GB Sandisk of this model and it's the best flash stick I've EVER used. Awesome little stick. My 2GB cost £4.99.
#10
stumbled across this today and though it was a bargain so bought one, tiny little stick
#11
Great stuff, great price, hot.
#12
great drive, i have one myself but 2gb version

its a surprisingly solid metal drive with a rubber sleeve and lid, i did away with the sleeve and lid and just use the bare metal, it survives, and looks good!
#13
Reserved mine, have some heat and rep!
#14
Nice drive. I have the 2 and 4 Gb ones for the Xbox and they are ace.
Xbox won't take any more than 4Gb otherwise I would grab this one too.

What are you talking about? The 360 has no limit on the size of the memory sticks! I have an 8GB USB and a 500GB HDD in my 360!

Its only a file size limit of 4GB! That just means you cant play a video file over 4GB! Because FAT32 doesnt support it!
Buy it!

wow, excellent find, I have had a couple of cheap/unbranded drives that either stopped working, or have fallen apart. Sandisk, for this price and capacity is fantastic. Just reserved one. Many thanks, good post.

HD Tach - 3.0.1.0 = 30.2Mb and it pretty quick - filled it in under 10 mins!

HD Tune 2.53 = min 22.3Mb - max = 22.8Mb Average = 22.6Mb Access Time + 0.5ms

Burst Rate 22.7Mb CPU Usage 16.3% (athlon 4200 d/c - 2GB DDR2)

HTH! = bought 2!!

Is this memory stick FAT32 or NTFS ? (coz I'd be using it for videos mostly)

If it came as FAT32 would I be able to reformat it?

if you right click on the icon for the drive then goto properties then hardware then select the SanDisk Cruzer then properties then select policies then change to optimize for performance if required select reboot then you can format then to NTFS!!

HTH! :-D

Lol I know the feeling. I can't decide if I need one. Want an 8gb microsd card for my phone aswell, think that's my priority for now but feel like I'm being a cheapskate passing up a deal like this! Especially with the read/write speeds that were quoted.

A lot of phones can't handle cards more than 2GB.
Make sure your phone can otherwise it's a wasted purchase.

Anyone else see something wrong with this post?

Great deal, **** reservation system and service.

Reserved mine at nearest store yesterday (15 miles away), went to collect and was told they didn't have any by one of the purple shirted PC Worms.

Congrats to the lucky ones who won in their stock lottery.. :(

got one after reserving online from Barnsley shop. Superb, very quick, faster by far than my Kingston 2Gb pen.

went into croydon store after reserving online, the [email protected] staff cannot find it so he says sorry, I am not giving up so I talked to the store manager (nice gentleman!), he checked his PC and seems there are 13 in store!

He walked around to find them but he failed, instead he offered another brand for the 'price promise'.

Not as great-looking as the sandisk one, this one is called EMTEC, also 8GB, and priced at 24.99 in store.

So I accepted the offer and thanked the manager.

went back and checked it, worked perfectly, got 1 year warranty(in-store) and 5 year manufacture warranty too, well, I am annoyed by its ****** look, but hey, good price:)

EDIT: the EMTEC is bad bad bad, avoid it, corrupted 2 big files, now my system hung up!
#32
nice price but not in a hurry for 1 yet, think i'll wait a bit but thanx anyway
