Good deal but description on PLays site and the feedback seems to refer to a different memory stick. I think it referes to the black one with the retractable USB end. Seems like PLay may have added the wrong pic

Actually I think they ordered the wrong stock. I ordered a U3 version and was delivered one of these, which weren't even listed on the site at the time. Was sent a replacement, again, it was one of these. So, I think they've just worked it out and fixed the details... And reduced the price by £2 :)

So decanay was it the silver one or the black one with the retractable usb? I've already got the black one and it's dog slow for both reading and writing. Still, 15 quid for 4Gb is still a great price.

I believe I had the same issue.. when I ordered from Play.com they had this picture:

but instead I got the one as:

Does that mean I should claim for something ? Do advice!

Well, I have currently been searching around to find the cheapest price for a SandisK Micro Cruzer U3 (the black retractable one). When I came across this on Play.com and read the description and the reviews, I had a feeling they were selling this black one for £14.99. However, I don't want to buy it from Play because I don't want to go through all the hassle of getting the wrong one (i.e. the one actually pictured on the page) and then having to return it.

Same here. Amazon had it in stock last week. The U3 black one. But unfortunately out of stock now.

It was a silver one, so I'm pretty sure that you'll get the item as shown on the site if you order now :)

Yep, exactly what happened to me. I just sent mine back for a refund + P&P costs, and ordered via Amazon which was a little cheaper anyway.. And at least they know what they're selling :P

This version does not have U3. I have ordered several of the black ones that do in the past for myself and work colleagues. I ordered another one before Christmas and they sent me one of these and it definitely does not have U3 on it whatsoever and Play have accepted it and are happy to take it back.

I have 2 versions of the black retractable one, the ready boost version seems much faster and probably isnt much more, I bought mine in the States for £20 at Christmas

Grr I hate it when they can't even get the images/descriptions right!

I'd go for this if it is definitely the cruzer micro. Its small physical form is the reason I want it while the U3 is bigger.

Hmm tempting at £12.99! however bit put off by the inbuilt software? Why the hell would you need any sort of software for a bloody USB stick FFS. I don't want any hassle with anything when I plug my USB pen in!

People say this is slow? How slow are we talking here?

Perhaps you should google U3 FFS. This should serve as warning to others too.

U3 devices are formatted as two drives, a small drive with the system software on and the main drive for all your data storage. Some devices such as DVD players, mp3 players will not see the main drive.

If you don't want a U3 device then you will need to remove the software/drive (link to tool provided above) and reformat as a single drive.

This is the right one to buy at £1 more http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3348406/SanDisk-4GB-Cruzer-Micro-USB-Flash-Drive-Ready-Boost-Enabled/Product.html However avoid buying from play.com as there is statement online now :"Temporarily out of stock. This item will be dispatched as soon as it arrives." which means to me last time (in Dec 2007) is that they sit on the order for week and then the moment I found out it is back in stock albeit for £2 more, they immediately cancel my order stating that it was on special offer in Dec 07 with very limited stock and they could not afford to sell the new stock at the special offer price. So I bought the same item from scan.co.uk for £1.50 more than their old offer price which they had very few and still 50p cheaper than their new price. Scan.co.uk are really excellent with their delivery service. Cannot fault them really as they are so good.
And the titanium version is also good , a bit more money but it is much tougher. I bought one of each , one of which is used permanently on a Vista machine as a Readyboost device. The micro cruzer is fast , writes at around 5Mbytes/s (my real life practical experience of this speed is correct). The Titanium version is about 9mbytes/s write. I bought these two from mymemory.com, they are fantastic with their pre- and post sales service. They really look after their customers with excellent communications (twice in the last few months). Here is the link but there is £4 postage so you need to buy a couple more items to reduce the pain of postage but they have them in stock as opposed to NOTHING! http://www.mymemory.co.uk/memory/SanDisk/1GB/Cruzer/Micro/U3/USB/Flash/Drive
