Not a bad find but there is a cheaper flash drive on Amazon at £18.99

here

True, this isn't the cheapest, but this is made from titanium and can withstand being run over using a 4x4! Its also extremely fast compared to ordinary flash sticks.

I have the 1GB version and so have just purchased myself one of these- can load a 700MB video file in about 30 seconds!

Here are a few reviews:

In the second one, they run it over with a car!

Plus that cheaper 2gb one is not a U3 smart device.

Yep - very true. I like my U3 flash drive, but i also know fo quite a few people who find the software very annoying! Good news for all sandisk drives (including this one) is that you can actually remove AND reinstall the software very easily, which is not the case for all U3 drives (on most you can only remove the software, but cannot put it back on again!)

Very good points. If I had not already just got the cheaper drive I would have been very tempted by the one you posted.

Cheers.

p.s don't forget the extra 2% if you go through quidco :)

Yep - got my 2% :-)
Shame it only works out at 54p tho, but money saved is more money to spend later!

If you don't want to shell out the little bit extra for a U3-capable drive, or just find U3 annoying, consider http://portableapps.com/ - gives you a lot of the functionality of U3 for free.

This is a great looking pen drive. I like the fact of the retractable USB part :)

I got one of these from work...well, the 1gb. Gives off a sexy blue glow when plugged in

could anyone please explain what U3 is? and what it does? and why some people don't like it?

thanks Rob

You can basically run portable applications on a U3 device.

e.g. Boot your PC into Portable Windows XP from USB to fix problems etc or run Portable Applications from USB without installing to the PC itself.

This site tells you all about it :

The site is temporarily unavailable when i looked but may be back up soon.

Very good find :) Thanks ;-) I missed this yesterday, these are much more than your "normal" USB memory stick/pen [as explained above].

SanDisk 4gb Cruzer Micro U3 Smart 2.0 USB Flash Drive
£39.99 on Amazon (via by HAMA PVAC LTD ( UK CE In Stock Account) )

Is this sold by Amazon or by a 3rd party?
It's unclear from the Amazon page, because on the right-hand side it says "In stock. Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk" but under the price on the left-hand side it says "(via by HAMA PVAC LTD ( UK CE In Stock Account)"

?

The Amazon button is under the stated price :) I know sometimes the Marketplace seller links come up first though :santa: Thanks again :-D

Remember though that the standard sandisk micro is only about half the speed of the sandisk titanium one! The titanium is their flagship, which is why its so surprising its selling at Play.com for the same money as the standard micro!
#20
Yeah it's definitely a bargain at £26.99 for the Titanium.

Mine has tracked with Quidco as £1.20 ! This works out at 4%, and it has the purchase price in quidco as the full £29.99 even though I was billed the reduced £26.99. Strange .....
