These are excellent cards absolutely worth the money!

I know they great.I am using them not only for my camera but also for windows ready boost and usb stick

from previously working for DSGi (Currys, PCworld and Dixons online) the stores doing this are going against the code of conduct as not being able to price match with other online prices apart from the companys in DSGi, but resorting of them firing me on having no terms back them, do this as much as you possibly can, make them loose money, they are going down hill and tbh they aren't going to have a company in the next few years anyway

Voted hot
Will probably pick one up before my holidays

Have used PC Worlds price promise a few times to save a couple of quid more recently an 80gb ipod on Friday as got them to price match amazon and got £20 knocked off but had to asked for the 10% cashback difference as at first the salesperson would not give it until the manager confirmed it

Wow, it looks like an amazing deal if they really are that higher price normally!

Are these the best on the market for use in DSLR cameras do you know? Also, is 8GB the highest SD card you can get?

Which card is better quality (if you exclude storage capacity)?

The highest capacity is 16GB but its still at rocking price if it would be at pcworld expect nothing less than £120-80 for it!

They considered the best as they are the new class 6 133X or more times faster and class 4.Also you get the quility of sandisk

4GB is the highest SD card, the SDHC specification goes to 32GB but so far as I know, 16GB is the largest actually available.

By the way, 133x speed is a historical reference, and is the equivalent of 133x the speed of a standard CD-ROM (150kB/s x 133 = 20MB/s) not 133x the speed of a "Class 1" card.

Great card and a potentially good deal but with this PC World "price promise" is it actually guaranteed to be £11.50 unlike £14.99 delivered from Play? I'm a bit wary of deals that aren't actually advertised as such in which you have to travel to a store and then start arguing for a reduction with staff and store managers who don't know their own company's policy. Not voting either way but even £14.99 is still a decent price for this card.

You shouldn't have any problem in enforcing the 10% difference on the price match as there are signs up all over the stores. In my experience the staff normally "forget" to put the 10% through but will correct their error when I point it out.

I did this price match last week when I bought the Nikon D40 also on price match. It is also worth remembering that you can get quidco cash back on collect in store transactions at PCWorld. This is of particualr interest as they seem to do the cah back on the price that you reserved it e.g. £49.99 in this case. Put it this way, it is currently tracking at £2.49 which would give me a net price of £9 if it actually gets paid.:-D

dont understand how this brings the price down to £11.0, 14.99 - 10% = £13.49

It's 10% of the DIFFERENCE between PcWorld's price and Plays deducted from the lower price you're matching.

Thanks for the info chaps, sounds like a really good investment; planning to get an Olympus e510 this summer too, so this has come at a brilliant time!

Do the SDHC cards work for basically all DSLRs, or does each camera make vary in storage compatability?

Think i'll definitely go for it if it is compatable with the e510.. :)
#15
Ahr damn!! Have just found out that the memory format of the e510 is- XD/CF!!
Hot deal anyway though, thanks for sharing

Does anyone know if the 8GB card will work in my HP 314 sat nav as I'm looking for one for that?

This is not compatible with olympus e510 as the camera supports XD/CF memory format not the SD and SDHC

I personally think it will as it should have sd port on the side panel and size of sd doesnt seem to matter .As one of my friends have one of these on his tomtom and absolutely no problem:thinking:

i did this a couple of weeks ago in PC World Aintree so can confirm the price and that they will honour it if u refuse to back down

PCW on-line price is now 39.99 so after pm it'll be 12.49 however check the in-store price as they may still have them at the higher price.
For those using xd and cf cards the same trick applies just have to do a little leg work on here, search for threads.
2gb Fuji xd. pcw 29.99 -play 9.99 = 7.99 after pm @ pcw.
4gb extreame III cf card. pcw 54.99 - play 17.99 = 14.29 after pm

I managed to get this in-store for £11.50 despite the pice on their system showing as £39.99. The price on the display was still showing £49.99. So after getting the sales guy to price match play.com and then give me the 10% of the difference off (strange how a lot of them seem to forget about that) the price I was quoted was a quid higher than I was expecting. Once I got one of their sales staff to confirm the on-display price he knocked another quid off! I guess technically he could have argued about the other quid but thankfully didn't.

Tried it in my D80 and it seems to work even faster than my 2GB Extreme III cards! USB reader works great too although you may find you need an extender cable as its pretty wide and won't fit in my particular case.
