What's the difference between the Play one and this one?

http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-Extreme-III-SDHC-Card/dp/B000QUUFRW/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1228589269&sr=1-2

Ah, I see now..

One from Amazon has faster read/write speed (30mbps compared to 20mbps) but does not come with USB card reader.

They're actually exactly the same package. "It does indeed come with a dinky little USB reader and a carrying pouch and a CD with recovery software. " Extreme 3 is one speed range equivalent to Class 6, Extreme 4 are faster but not (yet?) available in SDHC.

I have one bought from Play a few months ago (£14.49 then), no complaints but if you don't need the nice little reader there are cheaper cards around.

If you can avoid or dilute the Scan delivery charge, this £9.76 4Gb Veho one I have is a mite faster according to my benchmark software. But 'Today Only' (ie, until noon Monday) they're selling the same Class 6 speed 8Gb Veho for £8.63.

They're not the same (according to both sites) the Amazon one states 30MB/s, Play.com states 20MB/s ??

[edit]

Also, Amazon reviewers say 'Great item. On my Sigma DP1 I notice it is a faster than my 8G Transcend SDHC Class 6. And this is the new 30MB/S version.'

'This is an awesome card without a doubt! But beware as mine didn't come with a 'dinky little card reader' as reading some of these reviews you might expect (i.e. previous 20MBPS version did come with case, reader & software) this confusion for me totally defeated the point of buying it for use as a fast memory stick which is expandable - doh! Regardless it is still an amazing card and the latest formula 1 edition too :) NOTE: PLAY still offer the previous version with the benefits for the same price so its a matter of how fast you wanna go ;)'

Hmm, which to buy...

Cheap, but with a quoted write speed of only 6MB/s, it's no good to me.

Just wondering if anyone would know... would I be able to plug this into the USB post on my DVD player to play Videos and music from an SD card?? If so, blazing hot deal!

Bought this for my camera for £14.99 @ Play a few months ago. The card is great and so is the card reader and pouch (to carry them both) that it comes with. Definitely worth £12.49!

You could do that with cheaper cards also, as the write speed will make no difference to playback. Save some money and buy a cheaper card only difference will be a 4 min wait to get a 700mb movie onto a card as opposed to about 30secs with this one.

Patience is a virtue.

Just to help out with the confusion Amazon Jersey does the "Extreme 3" 30 m/bit edition for £12.50 delivered (got it with my ixus960)

Play are doing the older 20 m/bit one but has the card reader, they are not the same card at all as we sell them at work and on the 960 its noticibly quicker on the 30 m/bit edition probably dues to the average filesize being 5.5mb

The 6 m/bit quoted time is what class 6 has to conform to for any type of file to be written. Thats just what makes class 6 a class 6 product. They are tho a superb card and am very happy with it.

Have you got the link to it what you claim? I see different labels that refer to to each other very differently. Whether Amazon changes/updates the image or changes the supplier on their page according to what is listed, i'll think I double check.

According to Sandisk UK, they are slightly different, check link; http://www.sandisk.co.uk/Products/Catalog(1002)-High_Performance_Photo_and_Video.aspx

Don't think Sandisk UK are trying to mislead people but the suppliers may not be fully aware which is which & may not have updated their website. I suggest people READ carefully what you get when trying to order, the reviews may be out of date to the time when the card details may have changed but I suggest people to check with the supplier first before ordering.

Notice they look differently with their labels. H&R added as still a good deal for those who are quite happy with 20MB/ sec sequential read/write speeds. Remember most new products that have recently just been officially released on the market tend to be at higher cost just like supply & demand. Hope this helps anyone for clarification.

That last card is the one I got, can dig out the email confirmation at take a picture if you really want. Mine has the red band, on this link if you click new and used http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B000QUUFRW/ the amazon jersey option is actually the 30 mbit per second option unless they have run out of stock, when I click on my order in amazon it doesn't link to the page I got it from just shows the results for a extreme 3, 4gb search so I guess they are either out of stock or just narrowed it into one link now? but if really need i can show my order and take a piccy of the card if ya really want as stated above.

My box says new faster speed - 30MB/s/200x* on the front and has the red band on the box too. Either way you'll get a good card but this new one is great for higher megapixel cameras

You must have been lucky to get the fast 30MB/ sec sequential read/write speeds as Amazon's Jersey Merchant, Indigostarfish.com may have clocked on to it & remove the link on it now. Nevermind, the SanDisk Extreme III 4GB SD HC Memory Card With MicroMate Reader £12.49 Delivered @ PLAY at the moment is a better deal now.

Have not noticed any difference in speed ..
I was using an old 1GB Sandisk with my Nikon D40 before, changed to this one - the same shooting speed in continious mode

Or does it apply to PC transfer speed only ?

I bought it last few days but the reader was no longer included in the box.
