maybe you bought a fake?

The Extreme III series of memory cards from Sandisk are superb. I highly recommend them. This price of £16.99 delivered from Play is excellent :) --- probably explains why it's currently the number 1 top seller in the Electronics section on Play.com as I type

If the search function was any good perhaps I'd not have wasted anyones time, I did search before posting and didn't find this - guess you have to know its there which kind of removes the point.

Still a good buy for those that are new members like me!!!

Not quite sure why you are dissing the search facility. Just type in the product name ie. sandisk extreme and it will list every posting where those words appear in the forum.

How do these compare with the cheaper Kingston Elite pro or Ultimate ? Looks like it comes with some useful pic rescue software which presumably is on the SD card ?

cheers

The Sandisk is faster. The Elite pro is a lot slower than the Extreme III as it can only write up to 7.5MBps. The Ultimate has promised write speeds of 18MBps while the Extreme III promise is a minimum 20MBps read/write speed. The RescuePro software that comes with the Extreme III is on a minidisc. It can recover images, documents, mail, video & music from Palm Pilots, Windows CE devices, digital cameras & camcorders, MP3 players, mobile phones and digital recorders whether the files/media were deleted, corrupt or even formatted so definitely a worthwhile freebie.
