The one I ordered a few weeks ago appeared brand new, still with security seals in original box.

Works perfectly, runs rockbox and I'm very happy.

AFAICT their description is accurate, why state otherwise (unless this is a reference to the PVR debacle).

WHICH review:

SanDisk Sansa C240

The SanDisk Sansa C240/C250 has decent sound quality with the supplied headphones which can be much improved with a Best Buy set, but it is a let down as a photo viewer. It is quick to load music on to the player, a micro SD card slot offers you the possibility to extend the memory and is available in FM and non-FM versions.

This small black rectangular player is slim and lit controls are found to the right of the screen. A neck strap is provided as a carrying option. The C240 has 1GB of memory while the C250 is the same player but with a larger 2GB memory. There is also a micro SD card slot to extend the memory. FM and non-FM versions are available, and the FM version has a tuner with 20 preset stations. Both versions have a microphone.

The supplied in ear headphones have a decent cable length and offer decent sound quality, but this can be improved on significantly with a Best Buy set. This SanDisk is compatible with MP3 and WMA music formats, as well as Napster to go. It is quick to load music on to the player, taking just 24 seconds for 100MB.

The colour screen displays cover art and photo thumbnails, and you can show your photos after converting them with the supplied software. But it is a poor photo viewer with a small screen (3x2cm), a poor quality display and the fact that you can’t upload photos direct from a digital camera.

The rechargeable battery gives an acceptable 18 hours play time per charge, and charging takes 2 hours. The player is easy to use but lacks both a hold button and random function. The supplied software is poor however.

The C240/C250 has a custom USB slot which is very secure and holds the cable tightly, but is difficult to replace if you mislay it.

Pros FM and non-FM versions available, micro SD card slot to extend memory, decent sound quality, easy to use

Cons Poor photo viewers, battery life could be better, supplied software is poor
