Yep, paid £36.99 for the same deal in December. Still a cracking deal at £40 though.

Didn't everybody miss the last one? They told me it was a misprice and refunded me.

Awesome player, awesome price. I've ranted about how good this is before - so plenty of good old threads with all the info. (don't let the gadget show fool you with the nano having better sound quality, thats rubbish IMHO - AB'd mine with the new cowon and there was nothing in it.)
#6
I took the plunge. Heat added.

Awesome mp3 player

thanks, just what I needed

Best player I've ever owned, got it last time it was on offer to replace the older Sansa clip I had. Amazing sound quality playing FLAC loseless songs over my high end Sennhiesers.

Great price, tho the sansa fuse+ with 16gb + free 16gb card (32gb total) is still at £74.99 which isnt a bad price for total of 32gig. Bought one last week and can confirm sound and earphones are v good! Plus you can add song details or play vids on it too.
#11
Bought this when it was £38 at xmas time, but never received the 8gb extra cards.. Had to wait a month to apply for a refund and in the end they sent 2x 2gb cards :/ Couldn't be bothered with the hassle in the end just kept em

The Gadget Show's tests are largely useless. They compared the sound quality of the MP3 players by playing them through some speakers, but they played different songs on each player. The show is more for fun/entertainment than for properly comparing products.

Just FYI, I got it for £25 on the other days deal from PC World, no mem card though but it is 8 gig anyway, perfect for gym.

I bought this the last time this offer came round. It's an excellent MP3 player. Even better with Rockbox installed.

What advantages does installing Rockbox have over the stock firmware? Also, can you revert back to the stock firmware if you don't like Rockbox (I assume you can)?

For me the main benefit is the file format support, specifically AAC. The user interface is a lot better and more customisable. Playlists are also easier to create.

It doesn't overwrite the original firmware - you can always boot that by holding down the left key when you switch it on. So it's easy enough to try it out to see if you like it.

Wicked. Thanks mate. I'm gonna install it now.

On initial setup of the Sansa ..select 'Rest of World' instead of 'Europe' as the volume will be cut down dramatcally........:)

Only issue with these is the clip.
On older ones, the clip was removeable for easy relacement when broken.
The current version has the clip "built on" to the unit and when it breaks, thats it.
Im on my 3rd unit now - all 3 have broken their clips, and I dont abuse them, its just a bad design.
Sound is great, battery life is great, just the damn clip will stop me buying another.
anyone know of an armband I can fit mine into now that its "clipless"?

They prob just ran out of stock mate, told you misprice to fob you off.

it's great price for a little mp3 player but no docking station compatible with it, pity (using for teaching dance and drama)
If anyone want a cheap 2 or 4g first generation ipod nano ( colour screen) for £26 and £32, search the biggest online auction site then you will see them, great price if you are not fussy with latest gadget, just got mine recently, no problem at all, and 100% compatible with my old speakers dock, also not as painful when lose it which I did recently (131 pounds gone in the air)

In the end, Rockbox nearly destroyed my Clip+, it got very sluggish, locking up all the time and one day completely stopped working. I kept pressing and holding down different buttons for half an hour and eventually it turned on so I formatted it and haven't had any problems with it since I got rid of Rockbox. The only thing I particularly miss is Solitaire ;)

Yeah, mine just broke and I never use the clip and treat the unit with kid gloves. Perhas it has weak hinges that break under the stress. Both of the loops on mine are broken.

Good price just ordered.

On the Gadget show he marked it down for poor volume, had not set it to "Rest of the world" I guess.

Well they are complete idiots that don't know what they are doing. Just hired because they look OK on camera.
If it was some 20 stone balding man with thick rimmed glasses and a lisp, I'd be more inclined to believe him X).

" Anyway please don't forget to add the card manually when prompted" - I wonder how many have missed the free additional 8gb card, I know I did !!!!. After putting it in your basket you then have to tick a box below to say you want a free card & click on buy. I think that's sneaky.

I guess its due to the fact that nothing on that site can be sold for 0 pounds and 0 pence. When I ordered the same deal last year the card showed up as £1.99, with that amount deducted from the price of the player.

That is an absolute joke they should never be aloud to do that

I was thinking that it was an additional 8gb card but I now realise that it's not, it's THE +8gb !!. Just looked back to the last time they did this offer and see that quite a few people didn't get the 8gb card till they complained. You'd think play would learn from that (or do they do it on purpose?). I've made a bit of a mess in that I've got two of them on order now, one with 8gb and one without !!!!!. I tried to cancel but no chance. Sent Email but had no reply yet. I'll just have to make sure I send the right one back (or should I play them up and send the one that should have the card ?)

Useful Knowledge:
The limit on the Clip+ is +/- 8000 tracks.
Yes, the Clip+ will support a 32GB card
The database limit for Rockbox is 10,000 tracks. Note that I said "database limit". If you play through Folder Mode, this would not be an issue.
Battery Life is up to 15 hours
Supported Formats: MP3, WMA, WAV, FLAC, Ogg, Audible
Features: Sleep Timer, FM/ FM Recording, Voice Recording, Music Subscription Capable

Battery life with FLAC more like three hours, though. And .wma files cause the default firmware to rescan the music database on mine for some reason.
