We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that uses his sansa clip with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This mp3 player shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in England now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That have a sansa clip on this day.

why not buy the 2GB version @ £30.30 it's exactly the same only smaller built in memory, but still expandable with a micro SD card !

£10 difference for 6gb. You can get an 8gb micro sd for about a tenner right? I would go for the one with 8gb built in as it is only a little bit more expensive per gb than buying the 2gb version and adding an 8gb micro sd. That way you can add an 8gb micro sd and have 16gb combined rather than getting the 2gb version and having to add a 16gb micro sd which is more like £25.

great player but be aware you will need to add own earphones like most players the stock ones are generic earbuds.
btw I think it only takes microSD ?

Great player, both in terms of price and audio fidelity. I briefly had a Cowon D2 but got shot of it because it was too quiet and at full volume the distortion was too great. This is actually a better sounding player than the D2. And it's tiny. There is a bit of creak on it but its so small as to not matter. Got an 8gig microsd card in it and there are no problems.

I'd recommend it, even if it wasn't reduced :)

Also be aware the batt life is 15 hours and that is probably 128kb playback not to mention nobody knows the batt life when playing from the microSD.
#8
If you're thinking of buying one I'd act soon because Currys/Dixons had them at the same price until yesterday when they sold out. Consequently, I wouldn't be surprised if Amazon increase the price again very soon, especially give that it's almost the same price as they're selling the 4GB model.

I read somewhere that battery life drops from 15 to about 11 hours with an SD card. I don't know if playing from the SD that reduces the life or whether it's just having it inserted.

These are brilliant little players ans knocj Sony mp3s into a cocked hat.

Great little MP3 player. Got mine when it was £34.99. Still a bargain at £39.99.
#12
been this price for ages, already posted
#13
Yea just saying as battery life can be a big issue for some.
I want one of these I own the old clip sounds better than my ipod classic.

Bought the 8gb model last December. Music quality is excellent with a decent pair of earphones. My weapon of choice for the daily commute. Big bonus for me is that the software makes special provision for podcasts and audiobooks and it keeps them separate from your music. It will resume an audiobook or a podcast where you left off. I sometimes use it at night time for listening to the daily archers podcast (sad i know) - it even has a sleep timer if you happen to doze off. Factor in a microsd slot for expandibility that incorporates the microsd content into the listings and it is one superb little package. Highly recommended.

This is a brilliant player - but mp3s? C'mon this is 2010 not the 90s!
Use it to play flac files, then you hear ALL the music not just the fraction you get with mp3s.
With an 8GB card in an 8GB player you can get over 500 flac files on this player - it's excellent.

They have been £39.99 for ages at amazon, and went as low as £34.99. I know as I bought one at £34.99.

This little chap is excellent, sound quality is up there with the high end players, i bought one of these as an upgrade to the 2 gb (non expandable one ) Sansa. Also bought a 8gb card for £10 from cex. It clips on to just about anything, even your private parts and u won't even know your wearing it cos it's so light! Therefore you WILL be required to check your still wearing it and havent dropped it...bit like an OCD ritual, patting it with your hand every damn min...i repeat...every min! But.........

.... one day i leave the house in a rush, thinking..did i or didn't i clip it on?? i did an SAS style search in the house when i got back home and yes my worst nightmare came true..nada.....I must have lost the little B**@@rd on the way to the train station...so light i didn't even hear it drop. 2 months later i'm still proper gutted. Do not use the clip on device .You have been warned.
Otherwise it's a steal!!! yah!! hot!!

p.s though i won't be buying one again.

If you are actually using it, there is a simple test. If you can hear it, you have it.

Bought the 4gb from Currys online a few days ago and been using it for the last 2 days. Excellent little mp3 player.

I had a iPod Touch 3rd Gen and sold it a while back. The sound quality is so much more better on this player compared to the Touch. Im using a pair of Sony MDR-V150 headphones with the Clip+ and i can hear so much more detail from each song with the Clip+, compared to all the mp3 players iv ever had including the Touch.

That was an interesting article. As you say, you CAN use full-size SDHC cards - IF you are prepared to have them hamging off your player at the end of a ribbon.

Still a useful tip to know about if you really, really need to expand to 40Gb of storage.

The thing that finally swung this for me is that Rockbox is now available in an "unstable" state as of a few days ago. I think Rockbox would be awesome on this player. From what I've read it is genuinely quite unstable at the moment though having only just progressed from "unusable" and from what I've read so far I would advise waiting a few weeks or months until installing it. Got one of these from mymemory a month ago.

It's great. Good sound and so tiny.

These are excellent players - had the original Clip sold it and bought the Clip+ use this more than a SonyNWZ-s639 16gb.

As to battery life there are tests from folks on Anything but Ipod website - pretty much the same whether you using the internal memory or card, it will drop if higher end encoding as per all DAPs and using FLAC files will take battery life down.

How an excellent bit of kit - best radio I've heard on a DAP and you can record radio. Voice recording is good and plays audiobooks and Podcasts seamlessly - great forums on both Sansa and Anything but Ipod websites.

I got an 8GB one from the local Currys for £20. I asked for a 2GB which was up for £25, but they had run out, so they gave me the demo one for £20. When I got it home it turned out to be an 8GB!
Excellent players. They even resume from where you switched off, making them perfect for audiobooks.

Unless you're a complete audio nerd who is more interested in listening out for the most miniscule difference in sound quality rather then the actual music being played, then mp3 will be just fine.

Great players by the way but take care with the clips i've known them to break with some heavy handed people.

Anyone tried the PNY 8GB MicroSD card from Play in the Sansa Clip+?

From some of the forums sounds like it can be a bit picky with what cards it likes

I've already got one of those cards but my Clip is still in the post. I'll let you know when it arrives.
#33
Is it better getting 2 x 8Gb than 1 x 16 Gb?
#34
I believe a full 8GB card will take about 2 minutes to update the database whenever it's inserted so bear that in mind if you're thinking of switching cards a lot. 16GB would be better, but are quite a lot more expensive. There was one on here at Amazon recently for about £23 though.
