Welcome to HUKD katymaty :)

Not sure about the USB upgrade; 1.0 may still work - better for someone to confirm this.

I heard that this model has expandable memory but the detail spec does not mention this? Can anyone confirm whether this player does have expandable memory capability?

Post number 2 above says " Features microSD™ expansion slot for additional memory capacity" :p

You can't buy a USB 2.0 port alone. You can get USB 2.0 if you upgrade your PC's motherboard though.

I would imagine that you can run it on USB 1.0. It just says that for high speed data transfer you'll need the faster USB 2.0

You can buy a USB 2.0 PCI card £3

You can get just the USB 2.0 ports...

Katy you'll just need a USB 2.0 PCI card which will give you a few USB 2.0 ports for not much outlay. EBay or EBuyer are your best bets, you can get them for under £10 now.

Just make sure you have a PCI expansion slot, but here you go:

katymaty,
Of course you can get USB 2.0

If you have a desktop PC then you can get USB 2.0 PCI cards like this:
http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/32620
If you have a laptop with Cardbus (PCMCIA) slot then something like this would do the job:

There are many other devices like these so you have lots of options.

Pretty comprehensive review here.

Apparantly a few probs like user manual and deleting songs.

read on.

Interestingly , though showing out of stock, there appears to be an 8Gig version of this with FM radio for little more.

COmputer Shopper Nov 2007 issue has just awarded this model Best Buy award @ £105, so seems like a bargain!

Picked up the 6GB one for £56 last week from amazon... Seems to have gone up now :-( Great little player though

The use model comes with an FM radio, however due to some ****** EU law, hey had to remove the fm radio from the european version. Most of the units sold in the EU do not come with the hardware required to use the FM radio, but some models have been sold with the chip needed (you will need the US firmware to actually use it) :)

what about a usb 2.0 hub, can i just plug that into my available usb port, will that then make the ports usb 2 compatible

afraid not, plugging a usb 2.0 hub into a usb 1 socket will mean the hub will run as a usb 1 hub (you can't make a ford fiesta go as fast as a ferrari by putting better tyres on it :) )

you will need either a PCI usb 2.0 card if your computer is a desktop or a PCMCIA usb 2.0 card if it is a laptop.

you should be OK to use this player over USB 1, it will however take much longer to copy songs onto it.
