i love the feel on the titanium one tho! its awesome. i have the plastic cruzer and its just not the same feel. but does the same job i guess! and after PC world pricematch with play a month ago i cant complain at 6.99. but titaniummmmmmm.... ha

good memory stick, stands up to pretty much anything. shame mine didn't come with a lanyard :(
quite quick speeds as well!
#4
The speeds quoted here are wrong, the titanium has a read speed of 25 MB/s and a write speed of 15 MB/s.. the plastic version of the cruzer has the slower speeds listed by the OP.. which makes the titanium awesome value, i paid twice this from Play a few months ago..
#5
The speeds stated are the ones on the packaging. PC World also has these, with the 4Gb one at £8.99.

Cool, but real life performance is faster.. even in vista with its dodgy transfer rates..

Reads at a burst rate of 27MB/s and then settles at about 23MB/s
Write rate is close to the advertised though at 10MB/s on my vista system..

Interesting, I have the 2GB versions of both, where the plastic one is significantly faster than the titanium.

Thats strange as i have the 8gb versions of both and the titanium is much faster, especially at reading..

anyone actually got any proof this exists, or are we all gonna blindly vote hot instead?

If you want a really fast 8gb flash stick buy the Patriot Xporter XT Boost which has sustained speeds of 30/20 MBps (read/write) everything else is sub par and that's reflected in the price :).

It's comical. Its the hottest deal currently on the Hot RSS feed... and nobody has bothered to check it. Blind stupidity.

It may well be that price somewhere, though I'd guess its only in a couple of stores in the country anyway.

I will apologise if wrong.

Hmmm.

I have a suspicion that this is why the OP says 'Instore Only!!'

I may be wrong of course but I think that it is a big clue as to the reason for not being able to find it mentioned online.

Strikes me as funny that so many on here can write but not read??

Hope you're not including me in that - I'm aware it's instore only, but if it is available, I'm sure it will be in 1 or 2 stores in the country.

Blind voting is just silly.

Well I bought one yesterday at Hermiston Gait Edinburgh, £13.99, and it didn't have any special offer notice on it. Give them a call?
I'm happy to show reciept, its in front of me, if someone wants to show me how.
#17
Mudddy look for a 6 digit product code and report back (should be on the receipt).

Sandisk website says the OP was quoting speeds correctly.

Hmmmm funny that as i just moved a 4gig file from mine and it sat at 23MB/s.. maybe i got a special one? :-D
#22
This is also advertised in Currys instore magazin. Shame I paid £17 for one these at play only few weeks ago.
Personally I would buy even smaller versions as this one is slightly big.
#23
Is this U3 compatible ? or is this only offered on another model ?
#24
I did a speed test on the 8GB TITANIUM stick last night. Filled up half the stick with video files, and it took:

About 5 mins to write 4GB from a Macbook.
About 5 mins to read the 4GB data back on a Vista PC

Not sure if this is quick or not because I've got nothing to benchmark against. Seemed pretty quick to me though.
#25
IMHO, this is the best USB stick there is. My usual two grumbles with USB sticks, are weak key ring links, and caps. This solves both of them beautifully. Had my 4gb version on my key ring for a year. Barely a scratch on it. Hot

Mine had U3, but I removed it as all I want to do is copy files.

.. give or take obviously :)

Just bought two from my local Currys in Bristol (Avonmeads). £13.99 x2 (so thanks to the original poster for the find) .

They also had another three in stock if anyone was desperate for one, also 4GB ones were £8.99 (same Titanium stick).

Thanks and heat added...
#28
Just popped in to my local Currys (Hammersmith), they didn't have them in stock, but confirmed the price and told me that PC World had them in stock at the same price - certainly Kensington and Fulham have stock
#29
i hav the titanium one and am very pleased with it. most robust USB stick I have ever owned. go get one....
#30
I picked one up from Curry's in Basingstoke, had a few in stock. They're behind the counter near the PC's and cameras.
A bargain at £13.99, thanks OP!

It's a bit lighter and tinnier than I imagined but I can't fault the way it works.

When I plugged it in a window asked if I wanted to install the U3 software, there's a video in case you don't know what it does. I elected to remove U3 completely, really easy!
#31
thanks for this...will pop out:thumbsup: tomorow in search
#32
Just picked one up at PC World, good deal for the Titanium verson

Voted HOT!!!!!
#33
Couldn't find it in the Currys Superstore - Stoke On Trent.
#34
Got mine yesterday from PC World on Kensington High Street - loads on the shelf and all priced at £13.99. No idea why this has been expired
banned#35
the price is now around £15 , but still not gone. still hot.
