For anyone that buys this: disable the U3, it's just annoying.

I run U3 That's a good application if you want to carry few programs like ccleaner, Veoh player, Open office, winrar, Burning room, security software...

I didn't install all the applications in my computer when ever i want to burn a cd/dvd i connect the usb and run the burning program from usb...

you know you want the 16gb

8 is to small you will regret it :p

I work as a trainer and this drive is simply the best for ruggedness and pretty good speed. However, as i plug my drive into machines in many establishments it's worth mentioning that in U3 configuration it's incompatable. It's also incompatable if you take it somewhere like Asda with your photos on. Once formatted as a standard drive it's fine.

I always used to rate Corsair's as the best until I got one of these. I've been using mine for months now and there's not a scratch on it and it works perfectly every time.

good deal for those that dont want the titanium one.

Not a bad deal, I got one from W H Smiths for £10.99 in the recent posted offer, the only things I don't like are the orange light on top is rather bright, a small led would have been better. Also it's fast but not as fast as my old Samsung 1 gig stick I purchased from 7dayshop years ago.

My daughter found this problem as well and coincidently I removed hers just the other day ;-)

Not sure whether a normal format would do the trick or not, but I used the removal software from U3's website http://www.u3.com/support/default.aspx#CQ3

Rather than U3 - the stick comes with an uninstall option, I use a portable apps program, it works like a charm.

Going to have to agree with Shonk here. 8Gb is far to small. Woe betide if you wish to move a large film or an ISO etc.

Imho worth spending extra on the 16gb.

Im waiting for a decent 64gb one >_>

Would this be good for ready boost?

I have played with U3 and Portable Apps

U3 website is a mess , outdated , full of adverts
U3 application is intrusive and cumbersome for folks with diverse needs - good for normal every day users

Portable apps is easier to delete or switch to another pen
Bootable USb pendrives can still use portable apps

**** the Pen drive itself is great - robust , no lid , second fastest drive I have ****

I've no idea about such products but I do need something that will store 100's of Jpeg photos from my pc. Is this an ideal product or is there anything else you would suggest?

Grateful for advice....cheers

Think the Amazon one is great price...Heat added

I prefer this one: http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/5722174/SanDisk-Cruzer-Micro-USB-Flash-Drive-8GB/Product.html

Same price, plus you can get 5% off with the RAC code.

After owning both I would have to say this is much better built. The slide mechanism of the Ultra Cruzer broke after a couple of months use.

When I first used it I used the U3 but I really don't want it on now! As I am practically pc illiterate when it comes to things like this, does anyone no if it is possible to remove it now? and if so how?
Thanx

all those programs are available in portable form and they take up a lot less space than in their U3 form

Maybe it is time to stop being PC illiterate. Seriously, it doesn't take long unless you're really really lazy. A few afternoons/evenings and you'll know what you're dealing with. Get rid of those negative thoughts.

Can I remove U3 technology from my USB drive?
Yes. To remove the U3 technology from the drive, simply go to the U3 Launchpad and, under Settings, select U3 Launchpad settings and click Uninstall. This will completely remove the U3 Launchpad from the drive.
