Just rang PC World, and because the play one comes with the memory card reader, it is not the same product, and as a result they cannot price match, only if it is an identical product! ******!! :(

? it always was, you have to price match it in a pc world store. they price match it and give you on top of that 10% of the difference which is why the card ends up so cheap as they have it priced rediculously high!

me too, theres is nothing hard about it, they have a price match policy, they do the price match, you get cheapness, i do it quite alot in my local one but i guess you could get some stuck up stingy managers in some stores that need extra persuasion. like going in with a megaphone reading out there price match poilcy at the till :-D

There are, but PCW website does not show theprice for micro SD cards.

2 solutions:
- go to your nearest PCW, check the models and prices of their micro SD cards. Then go back home and find cheaper at play or amazon, then go back to store and claim the 110% discount.

or
- print lots of pages for micro SD cards from amazon and play.com, then go to PCW and try to find the exact same product to claim the 110% discount.

I successfully applied the 2nd method.
PCW mostly sales Sandisk and ??? (i think it is Dane-Elec, not sure though) micro SD cards.

Hope it helps

I just successfully price matched in the Aintree, Liverpool store....

They even messed up the discount and gave it to me for £9.70!

The manager wasn't really bothered... the guy on the till was being a bit of an ****, but once I explained their policy he agreed!

At first they said it was only 110% if I bought it then found cheaper and went back to the store....

But again once, his own stores policy was read to him he agreed.

My hand was then shaken by a member of staff for getting such a large % reduction!

A reduction of 88% on the store price!!!!!

Thanks a lot people!!!

Went to the London City store, reserved online for [email protected], went there, printouts in hand, waited 10 mins to be seen by one of the tech guys who was busy on the phone chatting to his mate about going out tonight, then when he couldn't find it, he handed it over to a supervisor who scoured the warehouse, as their computer said 3 in stock, waited another 10 minutes, then he finally came back, and said sorry they couldn't find any, must be an "admistrative error", and that was that. And there was I waiting for them to come back with it, so I could gleefully claim my price match, never mind. Wanted an 8gb card for my hols in 3 weeks, anyone know of a decent one for around the £10-12 mark?

Normal PCW staff aint gonna care about you saving £60+ quid on a price match - why would they? It's not their money theyre losing and it's part of the PCW policy. Though when you go through the tills you might get someone that doesnt have a clue about memory cards and how much they *should* cost, so seeing a £60 difference they might shout on a manager, and even at that they cant really do anything about it as long as play has stock etc.

Also, with small items the stock reports on PCW systems are almost always incorrect... memory cards are small - they are easy to steal or go missing in the back warehouse, so while I can sympathise with those waiting 20 mins only to be told "none left", at the same time PCWorld stock management is like the weather - it's supposed to be as accurate as can be, but the weather is often wrong.

Kudos to those who manage to find stock though... Great card for the price. Pity theres absolutely none in the Glasgow/Renfrewshire/Western region.

do currys do the same deal ?

Although its not the point - the price at Play is still pretty good!

Still a tenner or so is better :p

Currys only have a local price match policy, within [x] miles of a store though I can't remember what the distance is exactly. They don't match the internet afaik.

Looks like I was mistaken (not so many retailers though).

Why give your money to the crooks at PCW when Play are genuine and offering a good price?

I say support the genuine sellers who are not trying to rip you off and trying to get you to do all the legwork to get the deal.
