As mentioned above it is no longer available on the site to buy or reserve, just ordered it myself as the 4gb one is not there.

Add an 8gb micro sd for around a tenner and you wont find a better mp3 player for £30.

Hot.

I have the previous model without an SD slot and its fantastic! Great battery life and audio quality from a unit no bigger than a match box. And with an SD slot it is only more amazing!
#7
I have the 8GB version, which is great. I paid £45 for it a while ago, and it was worth every penny. Those voting this cold have obviously never tried one. Hot.

Having a brief dekko at arpster's other comments, he(?) usually restricts his comments to one sentence, the majority of which are dismissive, sarcastic and negative. He rarely qualifies his comments, preferring to employ the 'i reckon' school of persuasive argument.

However, in a rare positive post, he changes tack and 'reckons' that the Sony NWZA728 8GB MP3 and Portable Video Players are the " best music players on the market". It's a shame we'll probably never know why. That's what i 'reckon' anyway.

A victim of marketing I guess, it's Sony so it must be best!!

look (stalk) a little closer and you'll notice plenty of positive comments/votes for posts that I think are hot/good value - and cold votes/comments for items that I dont think are hot.....but if you feel so strongly about my personal tastes, free to ignore the hot votes in order to make your point

thanks for the feedback

any btw, Sony v Sansa?.......no contest

'any btw, Sony v Sansa?.......no contest' based on? Certainly not price or performance!!

Have the 4gb version - excellent player. Really handy, very easy to use (drag and drop, it's treated as a USB drive) and the sound quality is top notch.

actually arp, doesnt the cowon players beat sony by miles?

iirc its cowon>sansa/sony(equal), sony p[layers rock but are expensive and lack expandability unlike sansa range.

i have had the clip and am on the fuze now, awesome players and may pick one of these as a present for my sister :).
#23
The best player of its type on the market.

I say that because there are no other players of its type. The seamless expandability sets it apart from all others. Killer feature. Comparing it to the Sony players is about as useful as comparing a PVR to a DVD player.

Arpster, the only point i was trying to make was that you made a dismissive comment about the Sansa Clip+ without any attempt to justify or qualify your opinion with facts or information to help the reader. I am genuinely interested to understand what the better players are and in what ways they are better than the Sansa Clip+. Maybe next time you will volunteer more information rather than having to be be prompted. I respect your view that the Sony B series is the best mini mp3 player but unfortunately cannot agree. Sony have got their act together, having dropped the dreadful SonicStage software and now produce some good mp3/media players including the B Series. As ever, all Sony's have top notch build quality, however, l have a Sansa Clip+ and find it to be quite unique in the market place. I've not known anyone try the Clip+ and not been blown away by its size/perfomance/features and price package. At £19.99 the 2Gb Clip+ is a good deal IMHO.

Great little player, I bought the 4gb version and very happy with it. I put in an 8gb sdhc card and holds a lot of music. Navigation is easy and excellent sound quality. Add to this it's ultra portable you can't go wrong :)
#27
anyone can recommend some earphones for this
#28
Thanks, GreenTango. Just went to my local Currys to pick up the 2GB and noted they still had the 4GB for £24.99 in stock (dispite it showing out of stock online), so went for that one. Looks like a great piece of kit for the gym.
#29
I reserved the 2gb model in the Inverness branch and went to pick it up.
When I got to the store their was 4 boxes of the the 4gb model even though it showed online as out of stock. Bought the 4gb and very impressed with it! Happy Days!
#30
I reserved and collected the 2gb didn't check if they had the 4gb.

Where is the best place for the 8gb SD card and like already asked by another member what would be good matching earphones or headphones for this model ?

I actually like headphones with the wire rim over the head I don't care for the pushing into the ear types. And preferably something that keeps outside noise to a minimum.

In my gym the music is blaring and it's awful couldn't really call it music just noise.
#31
I thought the radio had stopped working but there is a play button that also mutes.

Phew........I thought I'd have to take it back tomorrow. :w00t:

Phew........I thought I'd have to take it back tomorrow. :w00t:

I know the feeling!

One thing worth noting (from painful experience this afternoon!) is that if you update the firmware to the latest version (01.02.09), the option to select either 'Normal' or 'High' volume disappears from the Settings menu, leaving you with unacceptably low volume levels (the volume seems pretty poor on the Normal setting). This volume limit is apparently due to European legislation.

It seems the only way to get the decent volume back is to re-install the firmware, selecting America as the region (rather then Europe) following the update. No idea if this has any other implications.

Would have had to return the unit if stuck on the European volume limit.

Still, first impressions are that it is a great little player.
#33
after £4 cheapies got the 4gb version great. easy drag and drop great sound and with a decent set of cans brill. can select n america as region from initial set up as well

Some good info thanks.

The supplied earphones keep slipping out of my ears.

thats why the i pod is crap (eu volume levels)
#37
I get it louder with the supplied earphones than if I plug in another set.

This is still hot. I ordered the 2Gb version, and went to pick up a few hours ago. When I got there, thought I would just ask the guy - and he said he had the 4GB version in stock (Wembley Stadium) and had more left. So the "out of stock" may not be correct. Worthwhile checking if you order 2Gb. I bought the 4Gb as only a fiver more.
#39
anyone can you recommend some good earphoneS|
#40
After seeing the superb rating this got on the gadget show last year i wanted one but held off when they were twice this price. Couldn't rexist at this price though, so thanks OP! Went for the 2gb version as i have a spare 8gb micro sd card so did't need the additional ln board memory. They did't have any of the 4gb ones in my local store but they did have 8 of the 2gb ones left (Chorley.)Was really surprised how small it actually is and first impressions are excellent. Superb sound quality even with the basic supplied earphones. Lots of functions and easy to navigate. In addition to one of the previous posts, the stop button doesn't mute fm radio, it pauses it, so when you press play again it picks up right where you left off! Nice little festure that. All in all, very happy with the purchase.
