Why would anyone want their kids thinking they were being watched constantly all a bit over the top

this is just a tool designed to threaten children into doing as they're told.
Totally agree. If a person's parenting skills are so limited all they do is threaten children into compliance, they shouldn't have any. Grim medieval parenting.

OMG pull ur pokers out ur backsides. This is a fab idea for all us parents who don't have perfect kids.
We've all lied & told our kids santa is real, where's the harm in backing up our story? If it makes my kids behave a bit more I'll be putting one in every room....... all year round!! For all u goody goody parents, feel free to call social services :D

Teach your children to behave with the assistance of fear. Santa loves trampling all over our right to privacy, the peeping freak.
On a side note, I cant stand people going over the top with Father Christmas stuff, just makes the whole thing seem less plausible and more like a joke. Kids aren't stupid, less is more.

Cheer up misery b0llox
I can tell you're the cheery type I should be learning from. Nothing screams "happy go lucky" more than bypassing a swear filter to cause offence.

You sir are a moron. A Scrooge. Lighten up its Christmas. Its teaching children that good behaviour gets rewards & bad behaviour gets negative results.
If you don't like it, draw your curtains put One Foot in The Grave on repeat with Mud's hit: 'It'll be lonely this Christmas gently playing in the background".
It'll soon be January... Hang in there.
Hahaha! I love Christmas, we all do in this house. Just think it's freaky to tell kids they're being watched to make sure they're good. I think it's important for children to learn to behave because everyone is happier when they do, this is just a tool designed to threaten children into doing as they're told. Merry Christmas, O'Brien!

So how do you teach a child to behave?all you say is that's it is important that they do.

You could say that teaching a child in any kind of way is a threat as normally you point out there is consequences to bad behaviour,be it sitting on the naughty step, not getting something they want, detention at school, sent to their bedroom.

Yes, HE's watching all the time - not just the run up to Xmas. That really is using fear on your kids.

I tend to talk to them. Explain why they were wrong to do what they did and explain why things would work better if they did the right thing instead. In extreme cases a privilege may be removed. What I don't do is tell then in advance that they'd better behave or they'll miss out on something that THEY DEFINITELY WON'T, if you make a threat of punishment you must be prepared to carry it through. Are there any parents who have this thing and are prepared to issue no gifts come Christmas?

Yeah they're the same just without the added Santa parts.

Well I think it's just a bit of fun. Not much different than elf on the shelf who is also sent by santa to keep an eye on the children to make sure they are behaving.

BRILLIANT idea ...... after all, most children are told that Sants's helpers are watching how good they are in the run up to Xmas ... this is just a modern take on that.

Some sensitive souls have issues with it, but then these type will have issue with EVERYTHING you'll find :D

Just say git you soft lad, "get" means something totally different in the English language. Naw. ludwig hit the nail on the head earlier - read it :p

Get is a Yorkshire term you miserable get.
Calm down, you might choke on your Chateau de Chassilier.

I'm sure you had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night, half an hour before you went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when you got home, your Dad and your mother would kill you, and dance about on your grave singing 'Hallelujah.'

But it's no excuse to do it to your children.

Download the app PNP (portable north pole), you can make short personalised video msg for your kids and choose a msg for Santa to say like "stop throwing temper tantrums" - theres a big list to choose from and you can make a video msg for an adult too. Its really funny to see the look on kids faces when Santa says their name and delivers his msg! Best of all its free, you can pay for premium msgs but free ones are brilliant!
