This might sound daft but what is the hard drive actually for? I presume recording programmes etc on to it?

I am no expert but think you can record programmes directly

Pros:
This product has a number of great features, and is probably one of the best looking 32" LCD on the market at the moment. The picture from external sources such as DVD are excellent, the picture quality from the integrated freeview is quite good, though you will need to personalise the picture settings to give you the best picture. The hard drive recorder is very useful, and works well.

Cons:
The EPG (freeview program guide) is not very easy to navigate but the biggest bad point of this TV is that they have chosen to put a fan just below the hard drive to cool it, and the fan makes a very distracting sound. For instance loud enough to be distracting whilst watching a film at a reasonable volume. This would have been a 4 star TV if not for this, it really is that distracting. When I enquired about this, SANYO mentioned that just that week another gentleman had rung with the same problem, so it doesn't look as though the problem was a one off.

Pity there isnt anyway to access the hard disk in this TV.
Some form of player would have been nice as well and perhaps a way to put avi etc on it to play it from the hard disk would have been cool.

Can somebody explain this please:-
3 Scart Sockets (2 RGB input)
Can I plug in my DVD Recorder and TWO NTL Boxes by the scart leads?

Good TV.

When What HiFi did their 32" breakdown before Xmas they had a lot of praise for this one. In a nutshell they said it was a brilliant budget set, very good list of features (espec the HDD) and although the picture quality didnt rank as high as most of the other sets the difference in price more than made up for it.

I'll dig out the issue and write something more accurate up, might help someone who is tring to decide between this and other sub-£600 LCDs

It means that two of the SCART sockets are fully wired (RGB) the third probably isn't, so is only a composite SCART connection.

Does anyone know what the "change the colour of the television in a matter of seconds" is like or how it works?
#14
You can change the frame surround to one of 4 colours see here http://www.sanyo.co.uk/scripts/hsrun.exe/Distributed/NF_iFramework_UK/StateId/R5G9d9SlPbmF1XgttJ8JcDV2Z2eQ1-U2NN/HAHTpage/HS_Store

Does look like a great price for a Sanyo TV with built in hard drive. :)

Personally though I think it looks ugly.

Think its like the DSG's style of reducing prices without stock ;-)
