eneloop is a combination of a rechargeable and a disposable battery the next evolutionary step for batteries into the 21st century. SANYO can ship the batteries to Amazon in an already charged state, without losing its power, because of it very low self-discharge. This means that you are purchasing an already charged battery.
eneloop is as user-friendly as a disposable battery. Once charged, it keeps its charge for up to 6 to 12 months - (90 per cent of the charge after 6 months, 85 per cent after 12 months)

Depends on your payment method but Amazon usually charge on dispatch ;-)

Expensive when compared to equivalent Uniross Hybrios (2100 mAh I think) which can be found for around a fiver.

I would recommend 2 sets of those over 1 of these.

still not sure on this type of battery, as you can buy 2900mah, still a good deal though!

I use the Uniross Hybrios and they are best for use in items that are used occasioanlly, as they have a long shelf life.

If you want intense use, then go for Higher capacity NIMh batteries, but bear in mind that they go flat quite quickly if left in a deice without using it.

You can pretty much treat Hybrios (and eneloops) like rechargeable alkaline batteries, which makes them very useful.

You can also charge a few up and leave them in the drawer waiting for use, which is not practical with NiMh as they go flat

Eneloop claim to be good for 1000 charge cycles, whereas Hybrio only claim 500.

I think Wilkinsons have had them around that price on and off, for example, with a charger thrown in.

My hybrios quote 1000 - are you sure you're not thinking about AAAs?

I seem to remember stats explaining why a high mAh is not important in these types as they do not suffer the fall-off of nimh, but I am totally the wrong person to even attempt to explain why!

The Hybrios I've seen only claim "Can be charged up to 500 times or more ",. the newer packaging says "replace up to 1000 disposable batteries" - but that is probably comparing them to disposable batteries with half the capacity.

http://www.screwfix.com/prods/20662/Electrical/Batteries/Ni-MH-Rechargeable/Uniross-AA-MultiUsage-Ni-MH-Batteries-Pack-of-4#

according to screwfix's description

Uniross AA MultiUsage+ Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries. Can be charged up to 500 times or more and hold their charge with long storage life. Pe-charged and ready to use. Ideal for general use in all devices.

4 AA MultiUsage+ Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.

if you enlarge the image these also say repace up to 1000 ordinary batteries on the packaging.

"Its rechargable up to 500 times depending on type of usage".

500 or 1,000 charges I very much doubt it really matters:-

To be honest, they have a really good standby period and that's why you'd buy these right?

So take my current run rate of my bathroom radio with these batteries is a recharge say every 3 months, that equates to 4 charges a year x 500charges = 2,000 years worth!!! Even if you charged them weekly, that's circa 4 charges per month = 48 per year you'd still manage 10 years worth based on 500 charges. If you're charging them more frequent than this then you really don't need Hybrid batteries as they won't have chance to go flat!
#17
That a very good point (although I think you mean 125 years worth). I have to admit I need to charge my eneloops far less frequently than the conventional Nimh I used before, so I guess the max number of charge cycles is less important than with conventional rechargeables with their high self-discharge rates..

However, I would only expect to get the claimed recharge cycles under ideal conditions, and with my typical usage for it to be far less. Being capable of up to double the usage suggests that the eneloops use better chemistry to me, so at least in some applications could be a better bet, although perhaps not worth paying significantly more for.

I found some Vapex instant for under a fiver for 4 which are yet another make of low self-discharge batteries like eneloop and hybrio. Their self-discharge rate is slightly higher than eneloop though at 70% of capacity held after a year (same as hybrio in fact) compared to eneloops claimed 85%

£4.95 for 4 or £9.85 for 8 delivered http://www.vapextech.co.uk/acatalog/High_Power_Consumer_Batteries.html#a20
