Yet again Ive been browsing the cabinets at Fosse Park, Leicester Asda. Its not a mind blowing deal like the Canon D1000 I found earlier this week but best price now play and ebuyer deals are over and you can have it in your hands today. (Nice weather for a HD family video!)

Thanks for looking folks!

Nice spot! I guess its all down to how quick you want one...

I've had this camcorder for about a month and I've got to say it's really quite good. Takes good stills and is small enough to mean that you are more likely to have it to hand when there's something worthwhile to video (picture quality is very good)

Well you can't see it as well for a start.

I have just bought one of these from Amazon, about the same price. Absolutely made up with it. Better picture quality than I expected. Video is far better than my chunky old analogue Hi8, and comes without the hassle of having to the capture it on PC. Video plays staight off my PS3, and streams fine. Even the SD mode was better than Hi8 converted to PC. Only minor issue I have found is that my PC (windows 7) didn't recognise it when I connected it with the cable that came with it, so I have to use a card reader to transfer the video. In low light it looked a bit Orangey, although that was in "auto" mode. Playing around with the settings improves it slightly, but it was still passable.

I got the older version of this camera with 5mbps and its a great camera very easy to slip in your pocket. Pictures were as good as my dslr but the amount of times I missed events because it was too big to take so hence opted for the older version of this, had it almost 3 years

Mine came with a docking station which is very useful these dont appear to have them now

Just recently got a new lion battery also takes SDHC cards

i bought this a few weeks ago. pretty good for the price. takes suprisingly decent pictures too. video can get a bit shaky though due to the hand held grip design as you need to use your thumb to zoom in. takes getting use to :)

Anyone?
#25
its alright for what it does but dont expect it to be that great its a good point and shoot camcorder, the low light performance in these type of camera's is universally crap so its not just this camcorder specifically
#26
I'd get one in an instant if you could stand it up without a tripod. But Hot anyway.
#27
What class SDHC card is needed for this to record HD?
#28
I would reckon class 4 and above.
Ordered one from amazon 16GB class 4 for £17.99 Bytestor branded.

edit: Actually tried a class 4 Play.com 8GB sdhc card and no issues recording 720p video.

I got one of these a few weeks ago to take to the lake district and it's great camera for the price the video is real good quality and so are the still shots, you do need to grab yourself a nice big sd card though and I go another battery from ebay because if you are shooting video then you will only get just over an hour from it, but it comes with a separate charger so you can charge one while still using the other one in the camera :).

I have the Xacti HD1A not so good in low light e.g. indoors, mild day....
Just wondered if this had been improved

Other than that the HD1A was great....

Just bought one last week from Play.com.....in CREAM....but dont think any cream left but they had the black £99 free del and pink at £118. Lovely piece of kit. Like users say, its not so hot on low light but I got mine to take on my hols where hopefully it will be sunny and bright all the time.

posted about one of these from play few months ago.
took mine to vegas and was really handy, fits in to your pocket too. use it all the time.
bit of a delay when its taking the pic but its a small price to pay when you got both, and you can take stills out of the video with the right software.
