The vast majority of cameras use CMOS, even up to prosumer level. At this price (especially) you can't really expect anything else.

This is a crap camcorder. the lens isn't wide enough, the pistol grip makes hand shake more of a problem and you get jerky results when panning across a shot.

I'd say that if your looking for a camera to make some you tube videos then this will do fine, although the similar Sony flip models are also coming down to around this price. I wouldn't use it as a main camcorder.

Good price but poor equipment so not voting either way.

Wide angle looks fine to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bBBWOKo_D8

I wouldn't recommend this as a main camcorder either, but it's a nice carry round for the price. Some do prefer the Flip HD video quality, but this will give you more control over what you're shooting. IS is usually pretty rubbish on all these micro cameras unless you're looking at the something expensive like the Sony TG range.

EDIT: soon to be replaced by this, but I would guess at (at least) twice the price: http://sanyo.com/news/2010/01/27-2.html

Thanks for the link, might hold out for the replacement model or most Cameras will offer HD video soon like the Panasonic Tz7
