Graphics cards not for upgrade if you have latest generation gaming card, but for 3-4 generation old!

I have returned 970gtx 4gb in favour if this. strix was not as good as I hoped for.

"Decent DX12 graphic card"

That could be anything

Having the product name in the title would be a bonus.

It looks decent deal for me. Can't justify 3gb more on the card for extra £50

The VRAM isn't the only difference.

I've just upgraded from a 780 Ti. The 3GB VRAM was beginning to become a bottleneck in some newer games. Maybe something to consider before buying the 3GB version?

What did you upgrade to?

OP, no need to give your opinion in the title, just give the product name. Opinion in the description.

3GB 1060s are stone cold imo. You'd be a fool to not pay the modest amount extra for the 6GB variant.

A working example of nvidia's disingenuous marketing of the 1060 3GB. Well done for pointing it out

970 and 480 occasional gamers cards, what the hell are you talking about up until a couple of months back the 970 was the best selling GPU and is still fast enough to play all game at 1080p on Ultra settings. Ive kept my 970 as i didnt see a need to upgrade a card that still plays all titles on very high settings, as for the 480 it has better performance in DX12 titles than the 1060 and who in their right mind buys a GPU today with 3gb of ram its out dated already and will be struggling straight away. Every review ive read about the 1060 3gb have said its a crippled GPU with no future proofing and telling you to get the 6gb version, ifyou couldnt of afforded 1 you should of saved a little longer. Me personally i would of chose the 480 8gb at least that has legs.

But an extra £50 will get you double the VRAM as well as a bump in the shader count. That extra few quid for the 6GB version will mean the card will be significantly more future proofed than the 3GB edition. Buying this one is surely false economy?

Exactly, this card already has trouble with current games at 1080P

The rather meanigless average FPS scores don't suffer too much, but look at those min FSP scores!
Those two images were quoted in post #2 over on hexus, and anyone considering this would be well advised to read that thread:

I know some of you state its not upgrade from 970 but I had been upgrading from 560Ti. Which is 5yrs old and still can hit 34fps high settings on Fallout4 with custom cooling.

So for me is personally it was good 4yrs experience with NVidia. I was ATI fan before that. But just for try bought this on a deal day and no regret.(had no crashes on 4yrs in any game played). But my brother had ATI 5770 and always complaining of drivers/crashes etc.
So I judge from personal experience not donated forums/ benchmarks etc. Most professional gamers choose Nvidia, but I'm not professional. Amature 34yrs father of two who have higher priorities elsewhere. And for not being so technical I feel this card is good deal.
How can anyone expect ULTRA settings on BUDGET graphic card??? If you look at this card, than you already not GTX1080 potential buyer.

It's not really a great investment. Take that as you will.
