Seems a good price for a DX10 card that will slightly outdo a X1950 Pro, see link for benches.

They also have some other good deals on cards, take a look, stock is limited on some but for example there is aOEM Leadtek 8800 GTX for under under £200 delivered.

great price

One thing....does anyone know how noisy the fan is on this thing? I prefer to use passive cooling cards, to keep the noise down!

My main concern too, due to the little fan they tend to be the noisiest part of the PC. Great price though.

It states built-in HDMI but that looks like Dual DVI
can a techie please let me know if it has HDMI?

Just got this a few days ago!!
Brilliant service as usual from Overclockers, delivery is super quick, ordered on monday, came this morning.

Recommended

Oh one thing to be aware of, takes a hefty 550W power supply to power it, which was a problem for me so i had to buy a new one as mines was only 300W.

will probably come with a hdmi convertor from dvi, you will probably need your own hdmi cable.
to set up via hdmi you will need to run it through dvi/vga in the first instance to enable and set the second output to hdmi settings.

Read a review on the 512 model and it said it was VERY noisy. So I'll take the performance hit and go for the passive MSI one.

Are you thinking about the HD2900XT? I don't think there is even a 512mb GT. The GT is clocked lower and will be cooler and therefore less noisy.
#13
This is based on the R600 core - R600's are power-hungry, hot noisy beasts.
#14
Interesting as "gary" whoever he is reviewed it and said

"Virtually silent as well, 3D mark 06 got over 8K , 3D mark 05 got over 14K and 3d Mark 03 got over 27K."

Either he has one noisey system and can't hear it above the rest or it is indeed quite :)

Its well known to be power hungry and hot running but for the money you cant go wrong should also be faster than the new 3850 this card was the flagship series 6 months ago and the 512mb variant was the fastest card ATI sold it still holds its own today. The hdmi thing is that the dvi plug that comes with it also puts sound out so no need for another sound feed. Normal dvi only carries pictures but this carries sound and picture.

The new ATI cards support hdmi with an adaptor. Some of the top range ones have a sound processor on board so you also get sound when using the hdmi adaptor. I dont know if this one does. Probly not if its cheap

my 30 pound passive 2400 has onboard sound using a dvi to hdmi adapter

Ordered yesteday, received today, says on box HDMI adapter included, have to go to work now but will install later and post feedback when I can about how noisy it is, I currently have a 7900GTO and am not expecting too much difference noise wise, and hoping for a small jump in performance. GTO's are going for about £55 quid on fleabay so for me this is a £13 upgrade:thumbsup:

Yes but it has lower clocks than the HD2900XT which is the "full beans" version of the R600. There is still one spec level (Pro) inbetwen the GT and the XT.

Just because it looks like an XT doesn't mean it's as noisy as one :)

I bought one of these after chrimbo. :santa: My PC composite audio in ports blew on my 50" HD plasma. The warantee expired and I didnt want to spend the £300+ to repair it. Thats when I thought of delivering both audio and video via an hdmi cable to the plasma straight from the pc. All I had to do is find a tidy all-in-one HD Video & Audio card. Well I did, and this Radeon HD 2900 GT 256MB card is it. I was well chuffed with how easy it was to set up. Using the DVI port and the provided DVI > HDMI converter, add one HDMI lead and jobs a good'n. HD Audio & Video straight to my plasma with no other cables. :whistling:

The quality of the video kicks ass too! I used to have a pair of X1600 Pro 512mb linked by Crossfire. This new card on its own beats those 2 cards hands down. Crisp and clear, and no jerking.

As for noise ... I have a super silent modular 550w psu and Silverstone Case, and I can not hear any noise from GPU. Hope this helps.

This is an amazing price for this high end card!!! I could even afford to get 2 to run crossfire.. but I won't!

Anyone find any reviews for this card?

Please see above link in original post, it's a review I think of an 8800GT, but it is being compared against various cards including 2900 GT and so gives you some benchmarks to compare against. If you want technical data, this card is on Sapphires website.

It's not a high end card. It's very much at the bottom end of the top range cards available at the moment.

ATI has 4 cards above the GT.

HD2900GT < HD2900 Pro < HD3850 < HD2900XT < HD3870 and soon there will be the HD3870X2 which is better than all of those.

Is there a difference between the HIS and the Sapphire as there both the same price?
#26
Gonna be even more fun once ATI (and the likes of sapphire, his, gecube etc) add the HD3450, HD3470 and HD3650 to the range LOL

Is this gonna be another x1950 vs 2400/2600 (exception of 2600xt) all over again where the former still came out better than the latter?

wtf :? It's a graphics card, you know the price, you have the benchies, you pays your price and takes your chance. I'm actually an NVIDIA fanboy but the chance to upgrade my 7900 GTO for a DX10 card and a small boost in performance for a £68 outlay and will get approx £55 from fleabay for my 7900 GTO means it's a £13 upgrade, oh and it beats the x1950 Pro.

Erm...... X1950's were high end parts in their day. The 2400's and 2600's are low/mid range parts.

Are you expecting a new Fiesta to be faster than a mid 90's Ferrari or something? :whistling:

mmmmm!!!

I've been into Nvidia mainly for the last few years but I think my next card will be an ATI chipset since they just seem far more stable for me.

Ordered the HIS HD2900GT yesterday at 5pm and recieved today at 1.30pm, under 24hr delivery
