This card is back in stock and on offer again after last week's deal. Valid until early tomorrow afternoon. Maybe I should have been more patient before buying my 4670 :/

Free delivery if you have sufficient posts (20+) on AVForums (see http://www.avforums.com/forums/scan_offer.php)

This card has very similar performance to the 4670 which is around £65.

You need to order from the "Today Only" page or you will pay the normal price of £67. Clicking this link should take you to the Today Only page.

If people don't require something that powerful, I notice this deal is also back on today's Scan/todayonly: 256MB HiS HD2600 PRO GPU - only £16.09 @ SCAN (min spend of £23 incl VAT for the free delivery to kick in).

All the graphics card's deals here (all come with a free Tagan surge protector).

Thanks Crossbow! No free postage on that one though as it's less than £20 but still a good deal.

hot! !

The main advantage of a HD4670 is its lower power consumption. Make sure that you have a good enough power supply.

Yeah bought one about a month ago from SCAN for £17 for my server, cracking card even good for HD playback @ 1080p. As for this deal don't know really the 3 series is pretty much dicontinued now, so if you want gaming pay a little more for a 4 series ATI card, if not buy a £16 HD2600!

good luck with getting working drivers for that puppy...

I dont think people realise how bad this card is,

For the same money you can get a 9600gt from Novatech, £52 i think i paid.

Is the 3850 better than a X1950 Pro??? Considering upgrading from my X1950 Pro but dont really understand all the specs these days...:?
#11
Yes. Check out these rankings.

The 3850 512MB is 4 tiers higher in their ranking system, so probably a worthwhile upgrade.

I got one of these last time. No expert but seems pretty good Crysis on medium is fine - good quick delivery from scan and the free delivery thintg worked too + got the free surge protector thingy. Note however that it took up a fair bit of space meaning I had to remove my adjacent firewire card.

It also needs fair bit of power - I had to disconnect the secondary hard drive.

HTH

Oh yes, I forgot to mention that the free surge protector is included again too.
This deal will expire sometime after 1pm today but I wouldn't be surprised if it's back again in a week or so if you need more time to decide.

Personally, I'd go for one of these for ~£18-19 extra & make it a really worthwhile upgrade.

Novatech GeForce 8800GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E graphics card 'IN STOCK' = £68.99 @ Novatech + Quidco

XFX GeForce 9600GT 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E graphics card ** With Far Cry 2 FREE ** = £68.99 @ Novatech + Quidco

PCWorld (instore) had a few reasonably good cards too for £50: 8800GS, 9600GSO & 8800GT(256Mb) if I recall correctly - they would be better than this too.
#16
Great deal for a card that will run all modern games at decent settings on lower resolutions. If you are gaming on something like a 19" LCD, you really don't need much more than this.

They are both almost half as much again though for performance in a "similar" bracket. It is also an additional 6.99+VAT for next day delivery to match the 3850 Deal. If I was up to £76 for my card I would seriously be looking at cheap 4850's (around £110). The 3850 with 512MB RAM will be on a par with or better than the £50 cards listed at PC World. For £50 delivered next day you will not find better bang for buck. Glad I got my mates one ordered before the offer died, can have a decent LAN game with him over the weekend now

Not quite with the 8800GT - benchmarks. Sorry, I mistook this for a HD3650 . Of course, one could get a secondhand 8800GT 512Mb for £50 too

Fair enough if it was a 3650. As I said, it offers "similar" performance to an 8800GT/9600GT 512MB. It slightly lags behind those, but is £19 cheaper and was being delivered next day for free rather than a saver 3-5 day delivery.

With regards comparison to the like of the 8800GS, 9600GSO, 8800GT(256Mb) and Radeon 4650, it is "similar" in performance to them, but is a bit better without costing any more. If it was £60 then that would be about the right bang for buck cost based on alternatives available. At £50 with free next day delivery though it is hard to beat.

If you could get a 9600GT for £52 then buy that. Any reviews or comparisons show that this is a decent card though, being slightly worse than a more expensive card doesn't really constitute "bad". It is a solid mid range performer on offer at a lower mid range price.

In real use you would struggle to see much of an upgrade if you went from this to a 8800GT or 9600GT. Likewise you also probably wouldn't notice too much difference in a downgrade to something like a 8800GS, 9600GSO, 8800GT(256Mb) or a Radeon 4650. They are all mid range cards so you are best of buying a cheap one. You really need the jump to Radeon 4850's and 9800GTX's before the difference is worth worrying about.

Good deal thanks.

Mine arrived today.

Much quieter than the card it replaced and my system is running 5 degrees cooler with it in.
#25
This is really good, look out for when Scan do the deal again. Card arrived and turned out to have a large, quiet, two slot cooler rather than the normal little noisy one. Tested with Crysis and runs at a fine frame rate with all settings on high and resolution at 1280x1024. Would have to drop to medium to run at a much higher resolution, but for anyone gaming on a 20" or smaller LCD or a 720P TV this is ideal. My friend I built the system for is made up.

I have a 19" monitor and it only runs crysis on medium - when i let it auto configure. Should I manually change it?
