#4

I ordered the 8800 GTS at £50, should have waited a day!!
#5
This should be hotter that this!
#6
Just remember this is 266mm long and is very loud and very hot and uses a lot of power,If you have a big case and a big PSU and dont mind the noise this is a good price,

How big a PSU do you reckon it would need? Considering selling the 8800 GTS that's on it's way and ordering this instead.

550 Watt Power Supply I think. I think the requirements are listed here:

You have me thinking now. Ive a 580w psu would that be enough
#10
I just bought one :O at this price its a good 100- 50 cheaper than anywhere else ! Any interested in an 8800 gtx? lol

Funny: i was going to post this after i bought mine ;) good find

Very hot......but don't forget this for £139 (4850 x2)....yeah I know, it's pixmania, but still a good price.

Its a good deal. Its not as good as the 8800 deal posted the other day in terms of value. This thing is out performed by the GTX 260 (both versions) for little extra outlay and then you don't have to worry games not working well with this kind of configuration. Maybe ideal for those who want to try something different, particuarly if it overclocks well. But is this a DX10 card? I think I'd go for the 4850 x2 deal posted above. Voted hot still :).

I 2nd that, this card is very very loud when it cranks up, which is often since it heats very quickly. This card is so loud you'll regret buying it.

Good deal but according to Tom's hardware

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gtx-radeon,2151-6.html

the performance of this is on a par with the 4850 which can be bought for £86(+p&p if you don't qualify for free delivery through AVForums/Hexus)

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/512MB-XFX-ATI-Radeon-HD-4850-650M-DDR5-DUAL-DVI-XXX-EDITION

or just under £90 delivered at Novatech:
http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?XFX-4850
#16
Agreed, good price but not really that hot. That 8800GTS deal was much better than this.
#17
Ah i am not so sure i should of bought this after seeing the 4850 X2 deal! damn
#18
These are not very good. I'd rather get a 4850 single card than this. Dual cards tend to be very picky with what games they run at. Plus you might need to upgrade your psu to run this,

Poor card in my opinion.
#19
i think its poor, not as good as you think
#20
Well I think it will be good my Psu will run it. Its paid for now anyway so ill post a pic and some specs when i receive mine.

Also How long Is Delivery From Play?
#21
not a decent card at all for money

look at these, you can get a 4850 or a used 4870 for £100 ish

Play really should update the site , the prices for most of the old cards are a disgrace.
This deal is okish , but the extra power this will use ruins it.
#23
The technology on this X2 is no where near as good as that of the current X2s and some games won't play much better than a standard 3870. At this price I'd prefer to get a current generation card in the same price bracket.

Not voted cold, but I wouldn't buy it, even at £100.
#24
don't worry about the nay sayers.. Its a good card!

We're not really being naysayers, just pointing out facts. This card isn't that great. It uses a lot of power and is not really faster than a single 4850 which can be had for less money. And those are the facts.
#26
These cards fave been at £50 -60 each for year now old technology when the novatech 4850 is £75odd and faster than 2 of these old cards
#27
I bought the card from this deal then i saw the 4850 x2 deal so i was abit bummed then i done some research the performance will run all todays games on max even crysis.

That may be true - though 20fps at 1280x1024 with 4xAA on Crysis isn't exactly playable.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-q3-2008/Sum-of-FPS-Benchmarks-1280x1024-AA,797.html

The fact of the matter is that this card costs more than both a single 4850 or an 8800GT and performs a bit less. It also uses far more power so this isn't really a great buy.
#29
Well on that video they ran crysis on 1600x1200 Everything on high and got 46fps o_O
#30
I didn't sit through the whole video but that just sounds like utter rubbish. In Tom's Hardware charts, no card gets over 35FPS at 1280x1024 at High with no AA or AF. It is slightly out of date so with updated drivers, you'll probably get a couple more FPS.

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-q3-2008/Crysis-v1.21,747.html

I would much rather trust sites such as Guru3d, Anandtech, Tom's Hardware, etc than that video.

Is there a specific point you disagree with the naysayers about? While the price is good for this card I don't think it's a good deal, personally I would only go for a dual card if it exceeds the performance of any current single card. The 3870x2 is a large power hungry card whose performance can be matched or exceeded by current single cards which are smaller, run cooler and more power efficient.

True but its more on par with the 1GB version than the 512MB one depending on what resolution\settings you run games at. Those are more around the £140 mark.
#34
You guys should be aware that a lot of retailers will be slashing prices come June/July as ATI will be releasing the 5000 series at the end of July.
#35
Yet another PC deal voted hot by people that don’t realise that it’s of no relevance that this used to be very expensive when it can now be beaten by a cheaper single GPU card that costs less, uses MUCH less power and runs cooler and quieter.
I’m talking about the HD 4850 at stock speed and you can get over-clocked versions for less than a £100.

Go here http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/gaming-graphics-charts-q3-2008/Sum-of-FPS-Benchmarks-Totals,795.html sum of all frames per seconds in loads of games put the 3870 X2 at 8800GT level but not as good as 8800GTX
