Sapphire 1GB version is well worth considering for those who don't like too much noise too as they are one of the few manufactures using better cooling systems than the stock one that most suppliers stick with. It also means you are likely to get a better overclock from your card if that is your sort of thing.

Please post cheaper ones before making this cold. There have been other 1GB ones at this price, but this is the lowest price they have been seen at and this one has a better cooling system than the others.

If you already have one of those I would wait a couple of months. There are loads of new cards coming out which is why the prices are finally starting to drop on this generation. The new GTX 275 or Radeon 4890 1GB would make a solid upgrade as both should give Crysis a big boost for you. The 8800GTX 765MB is only a little behind the 4850 or the 9800GTX, both of them are only a little behind the 4870 or GTX 260. I think you need another little push to get a wow factor jump in performance ;-)

So it wouldl be worth waiting a couple of months and getting a second 8800 rather than getting the latest card? Its the value from money and wow factor I'm after.

If you can pick up a second 8800GTX 768MB for around £50 delivered and your PSU / motherboard support it then it would be a decent solution. Prices on a second hand 8800GTX probably won't change much any time soon so could start looking at ebay and trading forums (hotdeals, OCUK and AVForums are all good bets). Much more than that though and you may as well wait a couple of months to see what the new cards bring.

For instance the new 4890 should beat a GTX 280 (the 4870 isn't far behind it already) and could arrive at around £150. It will be quieter and use less power than two 8800GTX's and should outperform them more often than not. You also need to bear in mind that some games simply don't support SLI properly (though this is getting fewer). These will act as though you have one card so will be thumped by the 4890.

Worth waiting for the new hd4890 and see if the hd4870 gets further reductions, the hd4870 is a solidcard though im using the hd 4870 1gb Powercolor and gives far superior performance than my old 8800gtx did. I have never seen a 8800gtx for £50 delivered as sibeer suggests? I doubt its worth buying another one to run in sli just hold out for a couple more months and watch the prices fall...

Hot price but probbaly will get cheaper when new hd4890 is out, heat added though

BE REALLY CAREFUL!

The cards need to be compatible with each other not just the same spec or model. Sometimes random cards work and sometimes they don't. Really you should only use indentical boards.
