The 4850s at OCuk are coming in at the 199 mark, offering a improvement on the HD4890 performances and of course the Direct X support and Eyefinity feature for spanning gaming over multiple monitors.

Amazing card and will be interesting in what nvidia come up with in response later in the year but this is just the standard launch price so not really a 'hot deal'
#3
Best price by far considering all the other competitors and their over the top price gouging and these were actually in stock unlike other companys. Out of stock now though.

Id actually disagree given a quick glance round other retailers, these prices seem to be pretty damn competitive. For example, check out Novatech http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Components/Graphics-ATI/ATIHD5800Series/

That said im trying to resist hitting the buy button just now, and if the 5870 price was more like £200 then it would be super hot and i wouldnt be still procrastinating ;]

Your right, at initial post there were some available for immediate dispatch, flicking through now and reading the forum it seems the rest are in today / tomorrow and Friday so worth keeping an eye on. Letting you buy as a preorder.

Their not in stock though it's a pre order, at least their at £299.99 now, same can't be said for xfx and other manufacturers though.

10 available for pre-order
Expected date: 27 Sep 2009

Scan are taking the biscuit with their price gouging though, and their not in stock either, rediculous.

Good price, unfortunately theyve all gone now pre-order only, noticed some etailors advertising @ £344!

Yeah disappointed with Scan, normally they have good prices.

I have heard too many bad complaints about overclockers so have never used them.

I believe the best value right now is

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/174672

This card is £10 more then overclockers but it has free delivery. Its is a preorder, and also remember that you get colin mcrae dirt2 with it. Something to consider anyway.

Anyone seen a review on the 5850 yet ?.

"We simulated the performance of the HD 5850 by taking our HD 5870, reducing the clock speeds and disabling two SIMDs, which results in exactly the same performance as HD 5850."

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ATI/Radeon_HD_5870/

I think this is all that available right now, it doesn't give MIN FPS though, which I think is also important.

Is this gouging, or are they just trying to get people not to place orders until they have stock?
