This is an IN STORE ONLY deal. I don't have the SKU to hand (but will post later) and I can't find the item on the PC World website but it's the same card as here: http://www.macwarehouse.co.uk/catalogue/item/A0221892

When I was in PC World Doncaster today and picked this graphics card up for £9.97. When I got mine about 3pm, there was at least about 15-20 on the shelves.

Obviously this card won't win any awards and probably won't play the latest games but I thought It had to be an improvement over my old ATI X600, especially as it's Vista & Direct X 10 compatible.

How do I check if my mobo can take this, do I even need to?
#8
If your mobo has a PCI-Express slot then it can take this card.

Unless you need a low profile card, in which case not!

Is this Vista only or will it work on XP?

I have a Intel (Celeron I think) 3Ghz with onbaord graphics and was thinking this might improve video playback and webcam use.....
#11
I went in to the same store on Saturday and bought 5x8800gt 512mbs for £49.97 each.

These offers are in store only, so you won't find them on the website.

It will work with any OS. Although no, it wont improve video playback (well, it may improve certain elements that you will almost certainly not notice) and it wont improve webcam use for sure...

My current card is a ati radeon x600 pro (equiv to 9600 pro), which I've had for 3 and a half years (cost me £105 at the time), in my 3.2 ghz P4 pc.

is this 2400 xt one better? i've been out of touch with gfx cards for a while now.

Go to this website and it will tell you if you can run CoD4 (apart from the graphics card of course) http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest

This card may struggle with CoD4 as it is a low end card.

Is you computer a branded one (HP, Dell, Packard Bell, etc...)? If so, post the model number here. If not, you'll have to take the side off your case and get the make and model number off the motherboard itself.

Cheers,
Steve

Well it will improve video playback as he wont be able to play full HD content with his onboard graphics but will with this.

I was also thinking about it saying it has HD and DVI outputs which might come in useful.....

Shame about the webcam. Perhaps I just need more memory as I only have a 1Gb.

Don't think the issue with the webcam is graphics card related or that you only have 1gb of ram. Does it not work at all? Maybe it's not a great webcam the cheap ones aren't. If it works and isn't a rubbish one then it's most likley a driver issue.

Hi

Unfortunately I have a Dell Inspiron 530, the graphics on this machine are pretty awful, will this one fit, and will it make it any better than the current spec, I am runnig Vista home premium when it doesnt keep crashing and throwing up boot errors and Dell charge £57 per throw to reinstall etc, etc but that's another story ; )

Thanks

Will this card require additional power (i.e. using the 6 pin) or should the motherboard be enough to power this.

I have a Dell Dimension 5000 computer with it's out-dated X300 graphics card.
Much appreciated.

Yes will fit fine if you have a 530 (not 530s). Yes it will be better than the onboard graphics you have. Not great for games but good for HD video. But the chance of getting one is slim.

These deals are like gold dust.
