Sapphire HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 Dual Fan Edition @ OverClockersUk (£149.99 Inc VAT)
Found this whilst looking for a graphics card. Very robust and will play almost all games on highest settings. Thought it was pretty cheap myself.

1 on its own is better, 2 would be overkill.

I agree. Plus correct me if I'm wrong, having 2gb of ram would be better for modern or future titles. 2 x 1gb 6870's doesn't mean you have 2gb vram. It's still 1gb. Where you gonna get 2 XFX HD 1GB 6870 Black Editions from?
some much needed perspective
Not in the mood for an argument but how long ago did you last use them? They've been good with my the last few years.
If you've had problems more recently then fair enough.

Bought them from here/Scan awhile ago for £120 each that included a few games.
Not sure I'd want to take the chance with Overclockers (though the price is very good). I hear far too many customer service grumbles to be comfortable handing over my money.
The 2 6870 will murder this card on games that can utilize the crossfire right 1 6870 is fast enough, i have one on its own and it blows through most games at 1920x1080 with settings on max. Check this out

I did raise this on the forum and Lo an behold the thread was allowed to stay, got some input from the staff and also gave other forum members a chance to have their say. They have been a lot better recently and also keep in mind the company now has new owners.
If you've had a bad experience with them in the past I'd say give them another try theyre FAR better than they used to be, hell they couldnt have gotten much worse lol :p
EDIT forgot to talk about the card itself lol :p
Yeah the 6950s have great performance for the cash and this one has the all important 2GB VRAM.
There was multiple discussion on the forums about 1GB vs 2GB and was generally accepted that most of the new releases in order to play at a reasonable framerate with decent IQ that the 2GB was pretty much needed.
I originally purhcased 2 of the MSI 6950 TwinFrozrIII's but sold one shortly after receiving them, had bought them for BF3 then none of my mates were playing :( lol
The single card has since been fine with everything I've thrown at it and at these prices I'm very tempted to grab a 2nd again

i second this.
however, i would add; i have a 6850 and it blows through most games on 1080p 60hz, i dont go below 40 on bf3.
i have overclocked it, however. but my temperatures dont go above 50 and msi afterburner (i have the cyclone variant) makes overclocking very easy.
if you are going to crossfire, i would recommend 2 6850s. youre combining the power of 2 of the single highest performance:price cards on the market.
Yes it was a quite a long time ago roughly 2004, but after such poor service I vowed never to use them again. Maybe they've improved but still I would rather spend my money elsewhere.
