Cheapest ever price on Amazon for this card (click other sellers to see this price). I use this exact card and can certainly recommend it for 1440p.

If you don't want to stretch for a 1070 and can't wait for the Vega cards this would do a job. I'd certainly go for this card over an 8GB 480 of if the money was +/- £50, it will outperform the 480 happily and will fill the gap between a 480/1060 and a 1070.

VRAM wise, I haven't had any issues, HBM is a different architecture entirely.

Usually quality you would expect from a Sapphire card, dual bios, quality heat-sink and fans and good warranty.

Gupster found it for £265 @ Ccl also for those after immediate delivery. 1% Quidco too.

Only real issue is the extra power draw. Would love one of these but I'd need a PSU upgrade as well I reckon.

Mine is fine, but I understand it to be an issue on some cards, more so with menu screens. RMA is reasonable in that case.

Not in stock at that price, in stock is £286.16 so nope.

Would've been a great price for a R9 Fury, still a great card, still the 5th fastest gaming GPU you can buy (behind GTX 1080, GTX 1070, R9 Fury X, GTX 980 Ti), possibly 4th as that last is now unavailable.

No, it is available at that price. You just have to follow the simple instructions :)

I used to limit the output to 60fps and the coil whine was still awful... GTA used to make it squeal like a pig

Sounds like a dud, should have RMA it, was it an early card?

Recently got a wall plug power meter, so my rig is:-

i5 4690K @ CPU 4.9GHz 1.255V Cache 4.4GHz 1.10V
Asus Maximus VII Ranger
Kingston Savage 2400MHz 16GB (2x8GB)
Fury X set to 1145MHz (+56mV) 545MHz (+25mV) via ROM
Gigabyte GC-WB867D-I (WiFi AC / BT card)
Samsung Evo 840 250GB
2x 2TB 7.2K RPM
1x 2TB 5.4K RPM
4x ThermalRight TY-147 PWM 140mm
1x Arctic Cooling F12 PWM 120mm
2x Arctic Cooling F9 PWM 92mm
Cherry MX Board 3.0
Logitech G700S
Kingston HyperX Cloud headphones

Including my display (Asus MG279Q), the rig pulls from wall plug when running 3DM FS MAX 468W / FSE MAX 420W / FSU 412W. The highest reading is seen in combined test when CPU/GPU are both loaded.

TimeSpy inc Demo MAX 400W, Valley (Ultra/8xAA/1440P) 3x runs MAX 445W, Heaven (Ultra/Extreme/8xAA/1440P) MAX 409W. All of above testing display was 144Hz with FreeSync off, V-Sync off, no FPS capping and "Power Efficiency" off in driver.

SWBF Ultra preset 1440P 90Hz with FreeSync MAX 435W on multiplayer "Blast" maps.

Why are you expiring when you can order it with a 2 week lead time??? It's still for sale at that price, plus there's a warehouse card for £257.

Care to explain?

Yep, but unless there's a time machine available or you know of a better deal this is the lowest price going.

A few things like brexit and £/$ change have happened since then.

I'd sooner spend this money on a Fury than the same sort of money on a 480, didn't expect it to go hot, but it's decent value in my book.

Just saying it's not a price I would get particularly excited about and it seems others agree.

People never really understood the card from a VFM perspective, they see 4GB and £260 and click cold, that's the way of HUKD.

£250 is a super price no question. But if I wanted something for 8GB 480 money that was a step up, I'd spend it on this without hesitation, especially as a 1070 will cost you £330+

It's about the right price in that sense.

I agree it's probably about the going price but that's also the point I was originally making. It's an okay price but not really a deal to get excited about. If I was GPU shopping I would buy a sub-£200 480 or wait for Vega / 1070 drops .. or even Volta which is now rumoured to be 2017

I know I'd probably be fine, I have a 530w BeQuiet unit - the issue is it's getting on 5 years old now so between power degradation and my 6 expansion cards I'd be a bit wary of how much more it can pull.

Sell the PSU, pickup a new 650W, probably a £30/35 outlay after all said and done.

Interesting that a card which is 10% weaker than a 1070 is Cold.

As for the PSU I've tested out numerous times with a power meter aswell and my max draw has been 450w, both with my i7 4790k and R9 Fury overclocked heavily.

PS - I am using a 500w EVGA psu with my Fury.

It just goes to show how badly understood it is as a proposition.

This card will play ANYTHING at 1440p and I don't see anything on the horizon that will change that.

The same cannot be said for a 480, but I understand people waiting on the 490 (or whatever it may be called), though given its going to higher spec I don't think it will depress the remaining Fiji stock.

I'd say this is pretty much rock bottom price wise.

I am playing GTA 5 modded with Redux on 1440p Ultra and am getting 45-55fps, I mean cmon thats on par with 1070 performance right there. I do lol when people compare this to a RX 480, show me where a RX 480 will get 60-70fps ultra on witcher 3 1440p, it probs doesnt even hit that on 1080p.

It is not in stock at that price, your own image shows that, and that the cheapest one which says "in stock" is £286 not £265, £265 is orderable but not in stock.

It's in stock for £257 from the warehouse. It's orderable for the listed price, I know Amazon well enough that you'll more than likely have it shipped before 2 weeks.

Nowhere did I state it was in stock, being available is enough and for anybody needing one immediately buy the warehouse stock.

Your post wrongly suggests you need to spend £286, when you do not.

I suppose the question is this or a 1070 for 320-330. The worry for me is the heat, noise, power draw and whether 4gb HBM would translate to a bottleneck in the future. This is actually a reqsonable price but I wouldn't call it a super deal. On a pure bang for buck If the 1070 is 330 and is 10% ahead performance wise then the equivalent price for this card is 300. If I was buying around this range I still would go for the 1070 because of those factors above. The 35 quid difference is not worth it.

£30 difference for a 1070, show me? If that's the difference I agree it's the better option, though I see the difference as being £50 minimum (for lowest spec) which translates to 20~% uplift.

You misunderstand me. I'm saying that the 1070 is a better card performance wise. Most agree it's about 10% better. The equivalent price if the performance of the 1070 was on par with they're is therefore about 297 (330-33). A difference therefore of 32 exists if performance is the only factor.
#36
Relative performance or £ per frame you mean then.

I agree, I paid £299 for mine back when the 980ti ruled the roost and I expect it to be relevant for the next 24 months, if I need it to be.

In truth, if the 490 performance like a 1075 and the price is £300-350ish I'll upgrade.

The only game where I'd like more frames is Star Citizen, but that runs like a dog on a 1070 sometimes due to alpha state of the game.
