better off buying 4gb 480 that's cheaper than this

Cold. It's been within £2 of this at Amazon for a while. On par with a RX 480 4GB roughly (stock)

This should have the full speed ram 8000mhz, as opposed to all others being 7000ghz (6600mhz for MSI Gaming X)

But the Sapphire Nitro take it even further in an attempt to confuse their customer.

There are about 11-12 different models all differing ever so slightly.

To be fair the difference between 470 and 480 is a few fps it's really very close. This isn't a terrible deal. However I would just pay a little extra for the 480

The cold votes are a bit unfair. It's a good price for an 8GB card and as has been said, the 470 is only a little less powerful than the 480. Doubt anyone would notice the difference really.

a 470 8gn probably better long run than 480 4gb? i have 470 4gb and the difference in fps oj benchmarks is like 42 fps 470 44 480. but 8gb will get you larger textures in future? hot from me. i paid 150 for 470 4gb

Just to confirm this IS the sneaky model. 8GB of slower ram. Not a huge difference, but the fact the have this alongside the other is pretty bad

For a 470 the price is excellent not seen a cheaper 8GB part anywhere but why are other sites selling this card as a 4GB card based on the part code? That aside I'd pay the extra for a 480 if I was to go for an AMD card.

Really does 8gb matter? Most demanding games at present doesn't need 4gb at 1080p. And if you're planning to play at 4K, should you be relying on this card?

Card quality is often linked to the amount of memory it can realistically need.

Just think the Gtx 970 is 3.5gb and it runs the current best at ultra.

I have the 470 8Gb Nitro + (hi-speed VRAM version). No idea if I can ever get the most out of the 8gb that is there, but when I bought my 7870LE 2Gb, nothing used 2Gb, so who knows. There are games using over 4Gb at the moment if 4Gb is available.

This card does not have the power to make use of 8GB.

2 things linger in the back of my mind though.

Firstly the improved performance in Vulkan / DX12, perhaps it's capable of using just over 4GB in these circumstances, so dar it's looking unlikely.

The other is that AMD always improve their products, or release them not to their fullest potential, mostly it's the former. AMD can always suprise, but ultimately 8GB on a RX 470 is probably pushing it a little.
