WOW DDR5 ? I stop looking at graphics cards for 6-9 months and everything is different now.
I currently happy with my 1GB 8800GT so can't really justify getting another one. But sounds a good deal. I remember I paid over £150 a year ago for the an HIS 3850.

Is DABS customer service any good though?

What resolution do you use to play your games? The 8800GT is a fantastic card despite its age and could play pretty much everything I threw at it. It struggled with Crysis, of course, but what card doesn't?! :p

You should be able to get £60 - £70 for your existing card and you could put that money towards a 4870 512 but, as I said, it all depends what you are playing and at what res / settings... but you have a 1gb card so yeah, can't really justify it :) Doubt you would notice much improvement unless you played a few certain games at higher resolutions.

Not hot, as I've seen them cheaper, even though it may be one of the better prices at the moment.

Aria had this overclocked one at £165 (inc. VAT) plus postage a week or two ago. There are better deals to be had.

not a bad price... when you add the £5.99 delivery though, makes it £178.70

can be had for £165.99 delivered, here on amazon http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sapphire-11133-00-20R-HD4870-512MB-Graphics/dp/B001DT91ES/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1227261208&sr=8-5

sorry, cold from me

Ah heck, sorry! Should have looked harder. No worries! Any way I can delete this now?

Edit:

Aria's price is currently £187.94 inc. VAT for the "Club 3D ATI Radeon HD 4870 Overclocked 512MB PCI-E2.0".

Amazon does indeed have the better deal at the moment! Doh.

I play in my TV which is 1080p (1920x1080) that's why at the time I went for the 1GB version which is superb. Anything that I played works like a charm. I am more into RPG, Strategy and racing rather than First Shooting Person games, so not really into Crysis or that sort.

World of Warcraft was perfect when I was playing it, even with the extra settings that I was using via macro (not available through the normal game settings though) but thank god I sttopped playing this game about 3 months ago.

Mass Effect , Red Alert 3, Grid, etc they all looks superb with everything max out. So can't really justify getting another one.

Also mine is a Palit which has got a very quiet fan, yeap I am into quiet PCs so I do not think I could go for this model of 4870 I would have to go for other models.

But at the moment I am enjoying the XBOX 360 which works out cheaper than PC., I know that I will come back to the PC gaming at some point so I am always keeping an eye for upgrades.

By the way any idea how much I could get for and HIS 512MB 3850 ICEQ 3 TURBO I only used it for like 4 months (excellent card and very quiet) before getting another PC with the 8800GT and right now is just there doing nothing and losing value.

I'd honestly keep it as a spare card, just in case something happens to your current one :) I have found this very handy in the past. Otherwise, if you really want to get rid of it, something like £35 - £45 perhaps?

Ufff that's not a lot for that card :w00t:, but well you might be right I might keep it as a spare or try to build a spare PC for the kids. Just need a motherboard and a CPU and I should be able to build a decent one.

I had this card it was ok and a step up from the 8800gtx I had before but crysis still didn't play right and also there was some artifacting (crysis only) in certain areas of the game this is a werid fault with sapphire ati cards in nvidea type games i.e crysis far cry.

I changed my card to the PowerColor HD4870 1G PCI-E 2.0(x16) (aria.co.uk) and it is far better no lag in games crysis and crysis warhead run smooth now well worth the extra cash to make all games playable imo 512 ddr just isn't enough get the 1gb version.

this card is only £199 atm http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Graphics+Cards/PCI-E/ATI+Radeon+4000+Series/Club+3D+ATI+Radeon+HD+4870+1024MB+PCI-E2.0+?productId=33741
