Hope you have a capable PSU :giggle:

This is supremely hot.

It's still one of the quickest cards out there for £100 - for £65 it wipes the floor with anything in the same price bracket.

Don't forget 2% Quidco.
#5
Ah heck, I think it's time for an upgrade. Just need to find my card. Noone buy one until I've ordered one. :P

Got a 500w that should be ok shouldnt it, from what ive read people are running one of these ok on a 350w.
#7
All depends on the amps! A **** 500w would die under the strain. Great card for £65! If i hadn't gotten my 7900GS for £30 i would get one

If that 500w PSU is generic it might not even handle the one card.

What do you recommend i get then?
#10
how is this card compared with current ati cards at the same price? or with the ati1800 all in one deal recently?
#11
Oh ffs just got one off ebuyer two days ago for £100. Any chance they could price match? lol

Either way amazing deal, voted hot. Just install this with my q6600, runs bioshock highest settings at 1600 resolution very smoothly. Highly recommended graphics card
#12
Superb price and find! Just a shame the card doesnt support DX10 although most games are DX9 and its only the newer games like company or heroes that you have to worry about...although in saying that could you still use this card to play these games or does it definately have to be a DX10 compatible GFX Card?

The one above should be fine, I have the Hiper which is nice. There is a modular version which is a bit more pricey. I've not price compared with other companies.

Edited after doing some digging.
#16
You without a doubt won't find a card that performs as well as this for anywhere near the price IMHO!

I bought an Asus one last month for £85 and it's awesome, dead quiet and performs very, very nicely too. Highly recommended.

I run the same card on one of these, however for some headroom I suggest this but if that is too expensive there is always this:).

Most DX10 games allow you to play at reduced performance with a DX9 capable gfx card.

thanks DaBear for the link.. card is definitely powerful esp compared to my current x800 gto

but based on tomshardware, the recommended price is already £75? @ link 1, page 3.
#19
I got one of these. paid £95 a few months ago for a new PC build.

Fantastic value card back then - now even better at this price!

Voted hot!

I think it means £75-£120 range, not that the card is £75. You can buy cheap models usually running at slower speeds for about £80-85ish.
#21
Another thanks to DaBear, that first link is very good for comparing the families. According to that table, three tiers upwards is about the minimum for a noticeable improvement. If I got this card, my PC would jump 13 tiers!!!

For anyone who wants a larger picture of this card:

went for it anyways :giggle: . thanks OP! even if it is £75, £65 is tenner off! do i just buy 2 to get it running in crossfire mode? and how much is the performance gained on that?
sorry i should be googling this myself. but if anyone have straight yes, double the performance or no, not much different answer that would be great.

Spotted this on the Play website last night when I was comparing the Overclock Value Version which was available on overclockers for £72 and is 512mb.
Anybody looking for half decent power supplys to power these in SLI could to worse than these two:
650W CoolerMaster eXtreme Power Supply
http://www.cclonline.com/product-info.asp?product_id=14801&category_id=263
£43.95

OCZ StealthXStream 600w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Power Supply
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-023-OC
£52.86

Get a corsair PSU, like the HX520 better than both the others, for slightly more than the gamexstream.
#26
looks like it's not in stock?
#27
ordered mine just in time then :D
#28
Great price for this, got it for 82 few months ago and its running on a generic psu in mates machine, they don`t pull many amps.
Crossfire different story get a decent psu and you must have a crossfire motherboard remember:thumbsup:
#29
The prices on Tomshardware with their charts now are meant to reflect the best price they've seen for the card rather than the RRP

The 512meg version is now showing at £82 plus delivery on overclockers plus iits clocked slower than most 1950Pro cards which helps to offset any benefit of the extra memory

You get on average a 10% to 20% gain I believe.
#32
I can't find this card on Play any more (only the more expensive 512MB version) - have they removed it from the listing?
#33
I got one of these cards for £64.99 - however the card I received had quite obviously already been opened and possibly used.

Phoned play.com and they assured me that this couldn't happen and offered 10% off.

I'm 99% convinced its a previously returned card, though I was told that there would be no more stock of this card so (presumably) can't get a replacement.

Have I been swindled?
#34
too right u have
#35
what should/can I do?

Under distance selling act you can send it back to them and get a refund.
Someone might have opened it,tried it and sent it back.
If the card looks new i`d test it and if ok keep it (get 10% back too),you still have 2 yr warranty with Sapphire.

Try anywhere between 30 and 80%
