Thanks. This is useful coz the cables on my corsair psu won't bend so its easier to keep the case tidy by using a single molex lead and the adapters to power the hdd and odd off that :)!

I have tonnes of these. However, I can never find any when I need them!

Ain't that a bit risky if one blows they all blow - could lose a hell of a data doing it that way.oO

Not gonna make any difference, all the power rails connect to the same point/parallel with each other, unless you have a rare DUAL power PSU it's swings and round-abouts on how you connect them.

In MY experience, using adapters such as these reduce the lifespan of the sata drives i had them connected to. Intermittently they made clicking noises, kept connecting disconnecting, etc. A few even failed on me. I then replaced the PSU with one that had more sata connectors and since i have not heard the clicking noises not even once or experienced the other problems mentioned above. Just keep an eye on things if using these.

Most PSUs now have multiple rails, so a bit of planning is sensible so you don't just daisy chain all your harddrives, optical drives and fans off the same rail and instead spread the load around a bit.

A splitter like the one in the deal is intended mainly for older PSUs that had plenty of Molex power connectors, but when IDE was the primary connection for harddrives and optical drives, rather than the current standard - SATA.

That doesn't sound like connectors. More likely your old PSU couldn't drive enough current to the 12 volt rails but it's replacement could.

Possibly. It was a 400w psu and when i tested how much current it was drawing, it would peak at 150w. But i dont know if the 12v rail was maxed out or not.

This is a great hard drive without no power cable if it suits you better
