you mind uploading the advert? curious to see if it is worth making a trip into town tomorrow..

Although I cannot read the advert properly (old age), from what I can read it seems like an absolutely brilliant deal. Regret giving my TV away now.

Have some heat and rep. I am truly jealous of everyone who is going to benefit from this deal.

So you can go the tip, get a knackered old telly, take it in, and get a 40S5500 for £500?

Superb if true.
#18
KDL-40W5500 and BDV-E300 can be found for £700 and £400 respetively anyway (try Amazon).......where you get £1199.99 and £599.99 beats me:?

Sony centre deals never live up to the bargains they seem if you shop around.
#19
I can't find the 40S5500 for less than £650.
#20
wow, what a deal

btw this is store specific, sony centres are franchised
#21
It's illegal to take anything from a recycling center.
I have a 12" b/w TV - would that count?

And do I really want a cloudy Sony unless the new Freesats TVs are better?
#22
I'd recommend looking at the KDL-40W5500 and comparing it against the KDL- 40S5500. I did this weekend and it's no contest. The picture is much better on the 40W.

For the technically minded the 40W has bells and whistles like DLNA support, 100Hz picture, 4 HDMI connectors as opposed to 3, surround sound dolby digital, and has a 100k contrast ratio compared to 30k.

I went for the 40W in argos which after voucher was £600 - in my view £100 well spent. My Sony centre couldn't get anywhere near it.

If anyone wants to go for the sony centre offer, send me an email as I may be able to save you a further £50 off of the price after trade in.

You and the person near the start need to read! STOP trying to be smart as it clearly doesn't suit!

S W can you spot the difference?

Damn it - voted HOT but score went down. Unless someone else did it at the same time?
#27
Hi is this all stores? also i have a really old tv will it still work?
banned#28
Voted cold for rep begging and being a giant crybaby over getting cold votes.

Oh, and its not really that great a deal. You can usually bag these for around this price or lower elsewhere if you shop around - without having to **** about dragging your old tv around.

Why don't you shop around and find a better deal than the one you refer to then clever chops? You might get some respect if you can back up your claims! :whistling:

You need to realise that this site is about posting GENUINE bargains and deals
NOT offers that are perceived to be bargains by a particular outlet when in comparison to the marketplace the deals are not that great at all.

Stating facts does not mean being smart!

Are you for real?
Where are you trying to take this?

I ain't the one boasting about this being a deal......which it clearly is not.

Even if i was looking for a deal on Sony TVs i wouldn't be posting offers that don't beat prices in the general marketplace!

I second the guy who correctly stated why the hell f*** around dragging an old telly into your sony centre when you can buy from your armchair at home at the same prices.

haha.... Am I for real! Do me a favour!!!
You made a claim and yes I am after this set for someone and want to get a deal (what this site is about I'm led to believe!) If you can find a better deal than the one you referred to, then you'd get some respect for doing so instead of poking a stick in the air. What the hell is wrong with that?

If the two items can be had for £999 with a 5 year warranty on both items then I can't see much beating that. If it means they come and pick up the dead set it is due to replace then so be it!

I assume that they will pick your old tv up when they deliver the new one - just my opinion like.

Agreed, the price for this TV, in the marketplace, is around £500, Richer Sounds,Digital Direct are both thereabouts with better warranties.
Not a bad deal but not too special.

Agree entirely the spec of the W series is much higher than the S series so this isn't a great deal.

The W has been cheaper or at least similarly priced in a few offers recently (got one myself)

Althought I have to add that if that's the Z series that you can get for £899 (can't see the model number think it might be the Z based on the 200hz motionflow) then that REALLY is a hot deal.

Don't think this deal a bad enough to vote cold and it certainly might interest some so cheers for posting.
