Heat for you:thumbsup:

These offers are fine but I had a Tesco 5p off a litre voucher last week.
Tesco fuel was 110.9p per litre. Down the road at Asda it was 106.9p per litre.
So not really the bargain that they were trying to make out.

I agree lufc246! I had a Tesco voucher last week aswell and their fuel was 114.9. At Sainsburys down the road it was 110.9. Lets see if Sainsburys will now raise the price because of the voucher!!
#4
My Sainsbury is always the cheapest in the area, with the 5p of it was a bargin.

Siansbury fuel here is 107.9 so a bargain with the 5p off making it 102.9 !!!

The only trouble is, this is ONLY a bargain if you normally shop at Sainsburys cos on a normal shop Sainsburys are about £5 more expensive than others so counteracting any 5p fuel saving!!

I have a 70 litre petrol tank, so this would only save me £3.50 for a full tank, therefore I don't think this is particularly a hot deal, unless you shop in Sainsbury's anyway.

Otherwise £50 spend for £3.50 saving is not huge.

I agree. 3.5 % savings (35 Litre tank) is small and that prompts you to do huge shopping when you don't need to.

These "deals" make me chuckle. We're getting completely mugged off at the pumps; the price of oil has dropped a third in the last two months and only an average of 8p came of the price of a litre (petrol). It is only supposed to take a month for oil prices to be reflected at the pumps so actually while we're on here posting hot deals about 5p a litre when you spend £50 and such, it should actually be at least 10p a litre cheaper anyway. Voted cold, sorry.
#9
just cut the price for all, not just big spenders
#10
Remember a while ago when the oil dropped back to US$100 a barrel, we were still charged 110 for petrol at the pumps.

I usually do all my shopping in Sainsburys anyway so small savings like this always helps me. Its a pity I just found out as I spent just under 50quid today. I did not see any advertising in store so didnt know about it until now, otherwise I would of spent a little more of the wispa bars - yes there back!!! lovely!!

Sainsbury's doesn't seem to put up their fuel prices like Tesco when these promotions are running. I don't understand why Tesco do it because at the end of the day, i doubt its gaining more customers. If anything its making them go elsewhere.

I am also one who shops at Sainsbury's, and to be honest we don't find them more expensive, even without the staff discount, we find what we buy there cheaper than Tesco.

sainsburys are pretty good on the fuel prices, usually lower their prices a day after asda/morrisons unlike tesco who take almost a week!
#14
I shop at sainsburys and i dont think its expensive
#15
can we beat this deal. like buying something for £60, claim the voucher and return the item ...will it work??
#16
Yes - and Sains are very relaxed on taking stuff back
#17
Usual exclusions, also petrol I suspect?
#18
I think we've established that if you shop at Sainsburys and happen to spend £50.01, and you buy your petrol there, then this is a bargain.
I do, I have, and I thank you.

By the way, the voucher is valid for 10 days.

noticed yesterday that tesco have put there petrol down to 106.9. i have a voucher with them so 101.9 a litre isn't bad.

I don't understand why some people think its expensive. Granted some things do cost more, but there are other things that cost more at tesco, and asda and whatever else.

Yep, excludes Petrol, and purchases from the petrol station shop.

I work for a supplier to all three and receive a weekly retail price comparison report for some products which shows that JS are more expensive than the other two you mention in about 99% of cases!

I'd forgotten all about the 5p/litre and went to stock up on wine with 25% off so the 5p voucher was welcome. Will save me all of £3.25! Oh well every little helps etc..............
