Save an extra 5% with powergen - switch to 'energy online winter saver'
Just discovered this - if your gas&electric is with powergen, you can save an extra 5% by just phoning them up and asking to be put on 'energy online winter saver'. This has an extra 5% discount compared to their energy online prices. Even better as it's a free phone number :-D
0800 015 1712 between 8.00am and 8.00pm Monday to Friday (8.00am and 4.00pm on Saturday).

Hi, Think that Powergen amongst other energy providers expect their customers to ring them and ask for the best possible deals on tariffs otherwise they're happy to continue charging customers standard rates. I'd understood that I was on a dual-fuel tariff but wasn't. Powergen in fairness were quite helpful over the phone and changed tafiff there and then.
HTH.
Hi Edi, I'd switched from Powergen to Npower and, what a nightmare changing gas and electric was. Web-sites that do the switching of providers for you do not advise how many months transferring accounts and what a complete and utter headache paperwork, submitting readings over and over again are. Decided to go back to Powergen because I was completely and utterly fed up with all of the paperwork going back and forth. Not necessarily the cheapest however their customer service has always been good in fairness to them.
Kind Regards.
Kind Regards.
I switched to Npower about a year ago and can't remember it being that much of a hassle, maybe had to give a couple of readings but I just let them phone me and i did it then. Just realised that I'm about £100 in credit on my account so in effect I've already paid for this winters fuel!
Ignore the bit about the discount already being taken - energylinx is one of those price comparison sites, and if you'd entered all your details and go through the proper route in the site it would have shown you the total price you'd pay per year including the discount.
The unit prices shown are before the discount is taken off.
btw: powergen WILL NOT automatically move you to this tariff, nor will they even tell you it exists, unless you ask them!
The phone call to switch takes about 60 seconds, and is likely to save you well over 100 quid in the period the discount is guaranteed for (ends Jan 2008 ).
The links in my first post don't seem to work - tells try again:
new tariff with the 16% discount:

energy online, which is what I'd expect anyone here reading to currently be on:

Welcome to HotUKDeals JeanieM and Thanks for the feedback ;-)
I used uswitch.com, and by doing so i am going to receive a bottle of champagne worth £20,
uswitch reckon i'll save around £200 per year by going with powergen,
I went with the online duel fuel with direct debit for extra savings.

Make sure you're on the winter saving tariff and save even more :-D
I believe so, yes, as you have to be on 'onebill' which you can only be on if you have two bills to start with :)
