HMV has updated their website with an offer saying that when you pre-order a Nintendo 3DS you can get up to £110 off when you trade in a DS console by March 19th 2010.

I've contacted my local store and they say the 3DS is going to be £229.99 instore and these are the trade in deals:
You get £110 off by trading in a DSi XL. £5 more than at GAME.
You get £80 off by trading in a DSi. £5 more than at GAME.
You get £65 off by trading in a DS Lite. £25 more than at GAME.

GAME's trade in offers for comparison:
http://www.game.co.uk/lowdown.aspx?lid=15335&cm_sp=3DS-_-Topnav-_-TradeInOffers#tabs

Traded my 120g ps3 a while ago and got £190 trade in but be aware you need everything you got in the original box to get full price!! (including the box).... Good deal though.

£219.99 on their website, so hopefully the same instore. That's £10 less than GAME's online and instore price. I'll ask when I'm in there later today.

Definitely tempted by this, I hope they'll take my ropey looking ds lite! :D

hot!

I only paid 95 quid for my dsi, so if they're offering me 100+ for it I could be tempted. Let us know what you find out instore please :)

seems reasonable,no guarantee HMV will still be around by the 25th march tho-could be calling in the receivers anyday

Up too can mean anything from 1p though, and who keeps the box?

I suspect 110 is for a mint dsixl,boxed

So basically if you trade in your DSI you well get it for £160. Or you could get it for £190 from Shopto WITHOUT trading something in and not basically give away your DSI for nothing?

Or better yet, sell your DSI on Ebay for £80 and get it for £110? Why do people fall for these scams.
#13
Seeing as their trade in price for a dsi is £60 normally, I can't quite understand what the £110 is going to apply to. Don't get too excited folks!

Read it carefully - The advert says UP TO £110 - you can bet the higest trade in will be for a DS XL then far lower for an old DS

If HMV do they've brought it on themselves, being the last music chain-store and the group having the last book chain-store they should've been able to make it work - but they're greedy and charge over the top for most things. So if the internet has ruined their business it's their own fault.

Having said all that I'd be sad to see the last proper music chain go - and being a record collector to see the market for CD/Vinyl singles collapse completely, I can't think of anywhere else they'd be sold on the high street anymore - and to see Fopp go for a second time too, I love Fopp.

The promotion is saying that you can get up to £110 for trading in a DS against a 3DS before 19th March and that £60 is what they normally offer for a DSi or DSi XL. I expect the full £110 is for a DSi XL and a little bit less for a DSi.

Any cnance they'll except the mark I ds?

the 60quid etc is just a guide to current prices though xl seems a bit off.
sure game boosted their tradein prices at the time dsi came out in a similar way.
instore price may be more than net price too there isn't usually much crossover.
#19
Just called my local store and they've given me the instore 3DS price and the trade in values you get for the DS Lite, DSi and DSi XL under the offer, so I've updated the post.

Hmmm, might give my DSi XL to my little sister and then trade her dsi for this...

So if I traded in my mint, boxed etc DSi at £80 (which is good), I'd be paying... £150? So essentially I'd only be getting 50 for my DSi, considering you can buy the console outright for just under £200 right now. This is nowhere near as good as it seems.

If you bought a DSi XL recently at £150, they're giving you £110... except they're only giving you £80 because the console is £30 more than you can get it for anyway...
#22
how much do i get off for a launch ds???
#23
and how much for a psp-1003 please
#24
Awaiting the 3DSXL (Both screens will be the same size)

Until then I'm happy with my DSiXL and DSTwo :)

selling on ebay can be a pain...i got the recent ps3 250 gb slim for my son from game, when the deal was on here at xmas for 169.00...then he tells me he wants an xbox...so i sell it on ebay for 240.00...it cost between 30 and 40 for postage and ebay/paypal fees..so I made about 30 quid if even...then it got lost in the post....wish I has just gone back to game with it for a refund!!!...now i have to claim the insurance won't see a penny until may at the earliest.....painful

Considering how bad HMV are doing lately I would be dubious about preodering anything from them

[quote=Predikuesi] [b]............and who keeps the box?

I keep the box and contents for most things over £50

Only because I normally get a better price when it's time to offload.

Recently sold a boxed Xbox360 Elite for £170 after I bought the new slim for £90 (after selling the included games for £60). The elite was in excellent condition tho, but I still only lost around £30 from buying it new. Similar unboxed examples at the time were going for approx £90 - £100 (so £70 for the box) ;)

Just average prices tbh

Ahem, I hope this new machine stops all those filthy pirates out there! Ahem, I'm as honest as the days long.

Just a little reminder!

Attended a Nintendo conference last week for 3Ds, was underwhelmed to be honest, also remember do not buy one for kids of 6 or under due to problems it can cause with eyesight (nintendo told us this)

Yes, it has been excepted. They won't accept it.

I wonder what a Wii is worth on trade-in. Not that the missus will let me sell it, despite NEVER using it.
#33
How much for the orginal ds?
#34
I wonder if I will be able to use my r4 card on the 3d DS. If not I wouldn't bother trading it in.
#35
Game will price match trade ins now guys as long as your HMV is within 1 mile :)

sorry but if you were stupid enough not to send a ps3 console via insured courier, then people are bound to say it ''got lost''. i bet they couldnt believe their luck when they got the console.
you cant trust anyone these days i send everything of value by courier, use parcelmonkey its like £7 odd and nothing ever goes missing that way.

yeah this deal isnt that good, basically youre getting £30 more because they charge £30 more than other places.

i have a DS Lite, its broken so im paying £40 to get it fixed. there is no way im letting it go for £65 credit towards a 3DS with no games. i ahve all the game i could want on the DS Lite.

i am going to get a 3DS but only when its around £150 or maybe £180 with 2 games. im shocked that there are no bundles around though, i mean they should give you at least one free 3DS game right?

Wonder what i would get for my mk1 ds...
