"c" denotes the model year (c = 2010)

The Samsung 530 ranges are always reduced, John Lewis were doing them for £429 with 5 year warranty, don't be fooled by the 'sale'

This TV for example one more HDMI port, Freeview HD built in, DLNA, USB port and a 5 year guarantee for £70 more and that's before price matching http://www.johnlewis.com/230929759/Product.aspx

Well its a Lexmark so expect to pay that amount again every time you need more ink!

The reviews on the printer are terrible, the ink replacement costs are huge and there's a chip built in which means that you can't use cheaper cartridges or re-fills, avoid at all costs.

Reserves - nice one on the C580. Asked JL to pricematch at £499 a few days ago with Dixons and they refused!!!!. About to place an order now.

I never buy Lexmark or HP printers due to the expensive ink. But, for info, the reason (in part) as to why they are more expensive is that the ink cartridge apparently contains the print head so every time you get new ink, you are getting new print heads so you shouldnt suffer quality loss due to degradation. Having said that, I have had a Canon i865 for years and the head did eventually go but it only cost me £40 to replace. Having paid only circa 2.99 per cartridge for the last X number of years, I'd say this was a more economical way of doing it so would always buy an Epson or Canon over a Lexmark or HP.

The next three models up in this range (S505, S605, S705) got recommended buys from WHICH? behind a cpl of HPs (can't remeber models) and Canon Pixma 560

Hope that helps

The C530 is the much better model but what im really trying to find out is if there is any quality difference between the C530 and C580 other than lack of freeview hd in the 530.

I was going to go for the C530 but with John Lewis dropping their price to £499 including a 5yr warranty I personally thought it worth the extra to go for the C580.

Not a great deal of difference otherwise other than the Freeview HD, an extra HDMI port and the Samsung site lists the C580 as being DNLA compatible but I thought the 530 was also.
