thanks OP...took the plunge and ordered anyway.....looks like the power base on its own is around £50 so this is a great way to get involved....my little boys only 10 months old but i always said id start getting into scalextric with him when he is older...with a bargain like this its daft not to get involved now..

Look at the video, you still have to use the original controls

so is this traditional scalextric with the added app/online features?

my 5 year old boy is mad on hot wheels/cars. Thought this may be a good Christmas purchase.

picked this up from the hornby museum shop last year for the same price for my 3 year old, lot's of fun and there was a free car voucher inside the box which took a few months to arrive but was a nice surprise. the Bluetooth app works well but we rarely use it as it's not really suitable until they are a few years older.

this is the standard analogue version (classic) there is a new digital version where you can race multiple cars per lane but expect to pay a lot more

Although slight cheaper at HB, you get club card points AND 5% cash back at TCB

This is still clinging on to old technology. I've bought my boys, 4 and 5, the junior scale trip but will be getting them the real next-gen experience from anki in a couple of years

Sometimes old technology is worth it though. In 5 or 10 years time when you pull that anki track out of the loft, you'll then have to hope and pray the app is still available, and potentially have to go and find a couple of old android / apple decives to use it, and it'll likely be next to worthless. This scalextric set has the same issue with the race system, but the cars and track will function fine using the old tech...

As I said, well before auto correct changed it, I'm getting the kids junior scalextric. But the anki is a leap ahead.

In 10 years time if I want to play with a scalextric I will just buy one. It's much better to buy a toy for the enjoyment now than worry about if it will still work when the kids have outgrown it.
