Ahhh, Scalextric!!! brings back some memories for me, this is selling at over £100 elsewhere, its not going to be everyones cup of tea (so please dont vote if you dont like racing cars!!), but for the like minded out there its actually a great deal, considering these sets go for nigh on £100 its a pretty good deal, even on ebay they are selling for over £100, fantastic bargain!!!!!

£105 @ Modelsupermarket.com, £97.54 @ ontracks.co.uk, £99 @ themodeller.com, £97.85 @ John Lewis

Have you got what it takes to tackle The Stig and push your driving skills to the limit around Gambon corner in a super car? Well now you can have a go yourself as the award winning BBC show is recreated in a special Scalextric Top Gear Powerlaps set! Budding Clarksons can recreate the speed and excitement of the Top Gear Powerlaps experience by challenging their friends to set the best lap time in the powerful Ford GT or the stunning Porsche 911 GT3R. The set comes with the official challenging corners, such as Hammerhead and Gambon, as well as two special edition Stig hand throttles! Everything you need to make it the perfect gift for all Top Gear and racing fans in 2008! Also included with Powerlaps set is the lap counter/timer which allows fans to recreate the iconic Top Gear leaderboard! Fans can also recreate some of the show's other popular features by introducing further cars to their collection to see which one makes it round in the fastest time!

Got mine for £45 from ASDA in their half price post Christmas deal. Remember at the time you could pick it up for around £60-70 elsewhere. I recon they are increasingly concentrating on digital sets and these analogue sets are frequently sold cheaply.

You can of course get a digital set and use a cheap analogue set as extra track (the cars will need to be converted to digital though). Just remember if you are intending to use this set in combo with a digital set you'll need a digital lap counter which ofsets some of the saving.

Soooo, might be cheapest but is it hot? .......Oh go on then!

Well my wife gives birth in July, is that too early to get the Scalextric? Lego is on standby already.

It's never too early - could be too late though! Don't pretend, treat yourself now, you know you deserve it!
