Seems like a good deal to me!

Has anyone got this set? I cant find much details about it on the web... It is not showing on the Scalextric.com website either?

I am wondering if it has been discontinued for a newer shinier set. Still looks very nice would make a super Christmas present. Good find positvt

Yeah..I just found a £5 voucher I had for Argos too.... think its too much to resist now!!!

Hello positvt...

Is it a good set? do you get alot for your money? Do you think it ever sold for £125? Cheers..

Thats a really good price.

It costs about £30 just to convert 3 cars and the digital lane change is about £20. So it's even worth buying to add to an existing layout

I suspect it is virtually the same as this one:
http://www.scalextric.com/sets-5/digital-ignition-c1186/product.html
but with an extra free car (hence the "triple" in the title and argos do say "With real overtaking plus a free digital car and controller")
Looks good value to me.

Well I went and bought one. Am very happy with it got it for £57 with a voucher I had. To be honest I am not sure I would have been totally happy had I paid £125, but for this price its fab. I have not really had any previous experience with the digital sets so the following info is also based on how I find the new (ish) system (apologies for those who are familiar with it. Heres a run down of what you get:

- 3 Porsche cars - they don't seem to be top quality detailing (however for my 4yr old they are ideal as he keeps bashing them into each other when using the lane change. They seem to be able to take a knock, I am not sure the high detail ones would be so 'bash' friendly!

- 3 controllers - these are great, colour coded to the cars and have 2 buttons on them, one for braking and one for operating the lane change.

- 4 controller unit - presumably you could add a forth car and controller?

- one cross over track section - Fab!!! works very well, great bit of kit. You press the button on your controller and as the car approaches it flicks over and your car swaps lanes.

- Barriers and run off areas - easy to use and fit, seem to work well (it only covers one half of the oval though - none for one end of your set up)

So you get 6 straights, 8 curves, cross over, start/power section and barriers, 3 cars, 3 controllers... wicked!!!!

Hope this helps....

A quick heads up - Argos are paying 6% cashback via Quidco for this week only (runs until the 18th) so that's a few more quid off the price.

I don't think it's a code that the other person has got it's more likely to be one of those gift vouchers they've been giving out lately. Eg. Spend £100 and get a free £5 voucher or whatever it was.

I can't get the link from quidco to work?

Great deal on this. Thank You OP.

Yes they did sell for £125 ebay prices are still £100 ish.

Darkstomper some nice info there, Yes you can buy a 4th controller and add cars, just make sure they are digital.

Been wanting one for ages and now the price seems right for me to try it out.

Thanks - I did not know if I was perhaps going on a bit!!!

I cant believe how fast you can go with the cars...they still come off the track if you go 'too' fast - but they just seem to stick to the track and you can really hurtle round!

As mentioned earlier re the voucher - the £5 voucher I used was one of those handed out by Argos for spending over £50..

:)

Are the tracks the same? If so, i could always buy the racing car's afterwards. Please advise?

The tracks do seem to be pretty much the same.

Depends on if you really want to have the 2 F1 cars, I would think the F1 cars are pretty detailed and easy to break parts on, the Porsches are apparently bulletproof and ideal for the beginner to thrash and crash around. You can pick up the F1 cars for around £30 each on ebay (possibly a bit less after christmas?) taking the total price to only £5 extra and you get 3 porches and an extra controller for the fiver. I am by no means an expert though and only presuming from the 2 descriptions that the tracks are pretty much the same.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. The tracks do appear to be the same, both 4.8 metres.

I did really want the 2 x f1 cars, but getting this and then the f1 cars after xmas or whenever, seems like a much better option, that way i have 5 cars for the same price, just depends if the tracks are the same. anyone else confirm the tracks are the same?
#21
Even if there is a couple of different track parts its always worth buying an extra few Scalextric Sport track pieces to extend or mix up your circuit every now and then. Im going out later this afternoon to get mine will try and post up the track part numbers for you if its not already been done by then.

Also I have been reading more and Scalextric now have cars that are "Digital Plug Ready" or "DPR". apparently the Ferrari set on the Argos site is DPR for £15. Think these are also part of the "Super-Resistant Range"" aimed at us beginners link

The part you need to plug into these is Scalextric Easyfit Digital Plug C8515. They are £9 at my local model shop.

Edit: I have now been and bought it and it is the exact same parts as listed for the F1 set, but you get an extra controller and the 3 porsches instead of the 2 f1 cars. Go ahead and but it and enjoy :)

Excellent spot! Got one yesterday, handed over my Nectar card to use some points and got 2p change! Very pleased with this, will use with my standard Italian Job set (half price from M&S a couple of years ago) to make a very nice track.

Got my dad to pick mine up yesterday from the Blackpool store as he was working up there. Looks good I think my lad's going to love this!

Hi, I understand it is the same track layout as:

Scalextric Digital F1 McLaren Alonso/Hamilton Box Set

* Space required 186cm x 130cm
* Track length = 488cm

Cheers.....

If you want the most track from a layout this link below is for tracks that are both demanding, exciting and fit onto a table tennis table.

Just note they are for different brands so top one is safe for scalextric. I set this up regularly for my 6 year old. It is challanging but excellent.

Are these in stock ANYWHERE in the UK? I can't seem to find it in stock at any Argos store nearish me!

I doubt it very much. This deal is 3 weeks old and was very popular with Santa.
